She kicked off her career as one fifth of Girls Aloud, and now singer Sarah Harding is set to join the cast of Coronation Street.
The 33-year-old singer will make a guest appearance in the ITV soap this summer, as a feisty new character who will clash with Corrie troublemaker Tracy Barlow, played by Kate Ford.
‘I am extremely excited to be joining Coronation Street,’ the former pop star said in a statement released on Wednesday morning.

‘As a fan of the show it is a huge honour for me to join the cast. I can’t wait to get started!!’
Moments later, she took to Twitter to write: ‘As u all know I've been a huge fan for yrs now so can't wait to strut my stuff on those famous cobbles!!’ [sic]
Although details of her storyline are being kept under wraps, Sarah begins filming in May and will appear in four episodes later this year.

Meanwhile, show producer Stuart Blackburn said: ‘Sarah is proving to be a gifted and exciting actor and I'm absolutely delighted to have her on board, the viewers are in for a treat as her character will be right at the heart of a massive new story for the Barlows.’
The Tumble star, whose acting credits include Bad Day, BBC film Freefall, Run for your Wife and St Trinians 2, found fame alongside Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh on talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
The five-piece enjoyed four number one singles and a further 16 top 10 hits over their seven years in the charts.

In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, Sarah confessed that she would be willing to join forces with her fellow band members on stage ‘for one night only’.
When quizzed about a possible reunion, she said: ‘I hope so! Even if it was just for one night only, that would be awesome.’
The blonde beauty also revealed: ‘I was reminiscing about the fact that we used to play to stadiums of 20,000 people and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss that.
‘We had some fun times… I watch videos back of all of us and I do miss it.’
