Razor sharp cheekbones, endless legs... and grey hair: Meet Jacky, the face of American Apparel's new 'Advanced' line

Routinely criticised for featuring underage half-naked models, American Apparel has done an about turn and cast an older model in its newest campaign.

Though her age is so far unknown, Jacky, as brand representatives are calling her, has long grey hair and a knowing smile only years of experience could account for.

But with legs as long as any lithe teenager's and an ease in front of the lens, Jacky seems a perfect fit for the clothing label's aptly named Advanced Basics line.

And, many will be pleased to hear, the only thing resembling provocative is a crotch shot in which the model wears a two-colour leotard with purple tights and a baggy grey sweater.

The pose may be considered unladylike to her more conservative peers, but for American Apparel's standards, it is hardly cause for outrage.

Though the brand has been careful not to reveal too much about Jacky's identity to Fashionista, a little more is known about the mature poster girl.

Discovered walking down a New York street shortly after moving to the city, Jacky is actually a New Jersey native, and attended New York University before moving to Los Angeles.

There, it seems she may have entertained an aspiring career in film and television appearing in shows like Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Night Court.

Last September Jacky changed her Facebook profile to single and added a job for law firm Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton.

Her move to New York marks a return to the East Coast where she has recently bought an apartment and will no doubt be helped with mortgage payments by her modelling debut for American Apparel.

Advanced Basics is not of course a huge departure in style from other collections and features the sames brightly coloured separates and easy-to-wear casual attire.

The daring campaign follows the label's last show of equal opportunity advocacy that gave centre stage to America's Next Top Model star and transgender model Isis King.
