Caring Carey: Miss Mulligan steals the show in demure and stunning silver-detail black dress at Alzheimer's charity dinner

She's a well known movie star, who is usually seen wowing on a red carpet.
But Carey Mulligan is keen to do her bit for charity, particularly when it comes to the Alzheimer's Society.
The 27-year-old made sure all eyes were on her and her beautiful dress as she attended the ASMALLWORLD Gala Dinner for the Alzheimer’s Society on Saturday.

The actress showed off her A-list credentials at the event held at The Gstaad Palace Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland, in the stunning black dress, which fell below her knees.
The high-necked top featured panels of intricate silver detailing, which she wore with a thin belt cinching her in at the waist.
While the sleeves were long-sleeved, they were sheer and also featured the same silver detail.
Charity matters: Carey is an ambassador the Alzheimer's Society, which is why she attended the event in Switzerland.

She let the dress work it's magic by wearing her hair in a chic up-do, showing off her slender neck.
The look was completed with a pair of cross-over strap heels and a small black dress.
Carey,  who is married to Marcus Mumford, was joined at the event by her friend Mamie Gummer and Rightor Doyle.
Close to heart: Carey feels strongly about the cause because her grandma suffers from dementia

Carey, who is not always known to smile for the cameras, was in good spirits at the event, probably because it's a cause close to her heart.
The star is an ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity she feels strongly about because her grandmother suffers from dementia.
She has joined forces with the charity to promote a campaign to get people sharing their favoruite Christmas memories.

Speaking about the campaign, she said: 'My favorite Christmas memory is every Christmas we spent with my grandmother,
'She used to alternate between us and our cousins and every year we were lucky enough to have her was particularly precious.'
She added: 'This Christmas we want people to tell us about their favorite Christmas memory – it can be funny, sad, silly or serious,

The English star launched the campaign alongside Prime Minister David Cameron earlier this week.
Jefferson Hack, Poppy Delevingne and Tali Lennox also attended the event.
