But the velvet texture of Kym Marsh's bodycon dress made sure her enviable figure was clear to see.
The raven-haired Coronation Street star shimmered in the moonlight on the cold Friday night.
Velvet crush: Kym Marsh lead the soapstar pack wearing a black bodycon dress to the Injured Jockey Awards in Manchester
Continuing the velvet theme, Kym held a silver clutchbag and kept her jewellery limited to a few matching bracelets on each arm.
Showing off her tanned legs, the actress finished off her look with some black peep toe heels.
Sheree Murphy opted for some comforting fabric as part of her outfit too, wearing a black fur coat over a black dress, and on her feet, towering ankle boots that blended into her opaque tights.
Texture : Kym Marsh and Sheree Murphy both chose outfits with soft fabric as a key feature
Sultry: Sheree's fur coat and Charley Webb's thigh high slit added some sex appeal to their dark outfits
Male support: Sheree's husband Harry Kewell joined his wife for a photo along with Charley's boyfriend and co-star Matthew Wolfenden
Her Emmerdale co-star Charley Webb looked sultry in black too, but allowed a flash of her leg to show through a thigh-high slit in her slash-neck maxi dress.
Again, she wore heels just as high as Sheree, but the two were still a couple of inches shorter than their beaus.
Australian footballer Harry Kewell accompanied his wife Sheree wearing jeans, trainers and a blazer jacket.
Contrast: The Aussie footballer was typically laidback in jeans and trainers but Coronation Street's Ian Puleston-Davies was far more dapper in a black tuxedo for the event in Manchester on Friday night
Suited: Adam Thomas dressed in a 3-piece pinstriped suit accompanied by a pretty blonde friend in a gold leaf print dress
Charley's other half - and Coronation Street co-star - Matthew Wolffenden wore jeans too, but his buttoned up shirt, waistcoat and matching jacket complete with handkerchief was arguably more formal than the former Liverpool player's.
Ian Puleston-Davies was far more dapper than both men, wearing a black tuxedo for the event in Manchester.
But he was to be outdone by Adam Thomas, who arrived in a 3-piece pinstripe suit and electric blue tie, with a pretty blonde on his arm.
Raunchy: Sacha Parkinson rocked a leather mini dress with a vibrant red clutch bag
Sacha Parkinson rocked up in leather belted mini dress, but added some colour with a vibrant red envelope clutchbag.
She arrived with Jack P. Shepherd who channeled Rat Pack cool in a black tuxedo, skinny tie and silver handkerchief in his left-hand jacket pocket.
Altogether the ITV1 soapstars were there to lend their support to the Injured Jockey Fund at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.
Leggy: Braving the cold Sacha left the tights at home, strutting out in peep toe heels alongside co-star Jack P. Shepherd
