Edna, the vampire maid of Downton: Actress who plays character in Christmas special starred in raunchy comedy Lesbian Vampire Killers

With her wholesome features, she appears the perfect addition to Downton Abbey.
So viewers may be surprised to find out that actress Myanna Buring is not quite so innocent after all.
The 28-year-old, who plays maid Edna Braithwaite in tomorrow night’s Christmas special of the hit ITV series, once starred in a raunchy comedy entitled, Lesbian Vampire Killers.

She is seen in a racy sex scene with another female actress and is also shown slaying vampires in the 2009 film, which was panned by critics. One called it ‘the movie from hell’, while another described it as ‘puerile’.
The British-based Swedish actress has also starred in the popular Twilight films alongside Robert Pattinson, which have gained a huge following among teenagers across the world.
Speaking of her previous screen roles, Miss Buring said: ‘I’ve got a running joke I tell people, that on my CV it says ‘does really good death’. There have been hangings, stranglings and drownings, I’ve even been sucked into space.’
‘My mum is really excited. I did Downton Abbey and Miss Marple this year and she was thrilled – finally, something she cares to watch! You couldn’t get two projects more different than the Twilight series and Downton Abbey.’
It has been claimed the introduction of the Twilight actress could be a bid to attract young teenage girls and a generally broader audience to Downton in the US.

Miss Buring added: ‘Many of my previous roles have had a contemporary feel to them so I was thrilled when the offer came from Downton.’
The actress was born in Sweden but grew up in the Middle East. When she turned 16, she moved to England. She attended high school at the American British Academy in Muscat, Oman.
As well as her role in Lesbian Vampire Killers alongside James Corden, the actress had a large supporting role in BBC drama Blackout earlier this year, in which she played a prostitute who witnesses a murder.
She is a new addition to Downton Abbey and plays Edna, the new maid, who finds herself in a romantic clinch with Tom Branson, the widower and Crawley family chauffeur still grieving for his late wife, Lady Sybil.
She added of her role in tomorrow night’s episode of the hit series: ‘When I was at drama school and dreaming of being an actor, this is exactly what I wanted to be doing. I keep saying it but I feel so lucky. I’m having an absolute ball.’
