Making the most of Christmas! Alexandra Burke gets her skates on as she spends family day at Winter Wonderland

She spent the run up to Christmas over in Los Angeles, recording new material.

But home is clearly where the heart is for Alexandra Burke as she made sure that she was back in time to celebrate the festive period, taking her family and friends for a day out at Winter Wonderland on Thursday.

The X Factor winner got her skates on and took to the ice rink before letting her down and hitting the rides with her nearest and dearest.

Ditching the glamorous image that she'd been showing off across the pond, Alexandra looked like every other person at the Hyde Park fair.

Wearing a simple pair of blue jeans, tucked into high-top trainers, the singer looked casual and relaxed, clearly not bothered about dressing up for the family day out.

She wore a simple grey, zip-up hoodie over the jeans and added a thick, black winter coat with a fur-trimmed collar for an added layer of warmth.

Taking no chances with the chilly weather, the 24-year-old wore a hat over her long wavy hair as well as a pair of toasty ear-muffs and went nearly make-up free, adding just a touch of lipgloss.

Managing to avoid the rainy weather, the star seemed on fine form as she posed for photographs outside the entrance of the popular Christmas experience.

And proving that she's not someone to sit back and let everyone else have all the fun, she got stuck into as many activities as she could, holding hands with family as she whizzed around the ice and then having a go on the rides.

Alexandra, who's trying to launch her career in the US at the same time as making a new record proved that nothing was more important than coming home for a family Christmas.

Looking on top of the world, the singer smiled throughout the day, before writing on Twitter:

'Winter wonderland was so much fun tonight. Nothing beats quality time with the family.. My family are everything to me x 143.'
