ASHLEY Roberts yesterday admitted she would like to get to know I’m A Celebrity host Dec better — even though he made her eat a fish eyeball.
The ex-Pussycat Doll said she loves men like Declan Donnelly who can make her laugh — and was delighted to learn he fancied her in all her grimy jungle glory.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, show runner-up Ashley, 31, said: “All I know about him is he made me eat a fish eyeball.
“But it’s really flattering that he said nice things, because I did not feel attractive in the jungle.
“I was all disgusting and gross. Your nails get full of dirt and you get a black ring inside your nostrils from all the grime, which is not cute at all.
“So I don’t know how anyone ended up liking me, but it’s nice.

“I think everything happens for a reason and when my man comes along, he comes along.
“I’d like to get to know Dec better. It would be nice to go for a drink and a chat.”
Geordie Dec, 37, made it clear he fancied Ashley when he invented a sketch in which he invited her to the after-show party with him.
And when Ashley told campmates she was desperate for a man, Dec said: “Oh my gosh. Everything I want to say is unbroadcastable or illegal — or career-ending. Let’s calm down.” Dec has been single since splitting from Sky Sports newsreader Georgie Thompson 18 months ago.
Ashley yesterday said she would not rule out a relationship with a celebrity. She said: “I feel independent and strong on my own. If I meet a guy I want to invest time in, that’s an added bonus.

“I like a guy that can make me laugh and be open-minded, who is active and loves travelling.
“They can’t take themselves seriously because life’s too short.
“There’s a part of me that likes the idea of having someone who isn’t in showbiz, because sometimes it’s enough with just you having to deal with fame.
“But you never know who you’re going to fall in love with.

“And I can’t say I won’t fall in love with somebody because they are famous.”
Ashley, who finished second behind EastEnders star Charlie Brooks, won over viewers with her easy-going humour.

The feisty blonde managed to eat a camel’s penis, a fish eye and two live cockroaches during her spell in the jungle.
But she admitted one of her toughest challenges was going three weeks without sex.

She added: “When you’re in the jungle not able to do anything, your body wants stimulation.
“I’ve been deprived of many things. So now I’m out I’m definitely going to have a good time.”

But Ashley said that if she had to pick a former campmate to chat up, she would IGNORE the men — for jungle queen Charlie.
She said: “If I had to choose someone, it would be Charlie.
“We had an amazing meal together on our last night in the camp and that was pretty orgasmic.” Ashley said she was amazed she made it to Saturday night’s final. She added: “I really didn’t think I’d get that far. I thought I’d be out in three days and had my backpack ready every morning.

“But it’s amazing to think people who had no idea who I was have voted to keep me in. It’s surprising because I was in there with such cool people.”
American Ashley said she had no idea who her fellow celebrities were — so got to know them as ordinary people. She added: “Hugo Taylor and I were buddies and I love Eric Bristow and David Haye — they were my three favourites.

“But I really bonded with Charlie at the end.”
Ashley also told of her sorrow when fragile Brian Conley left the show on health grounds.
She said: “Brian was so funny and so entertaining. Then one day he said, ‘I’m going to go to the loo’ and he didn’t come back. He is a caring and kind man.”
Ashley said there was no one in the camp who drove her mad. But she admitted Helen Flanagan’s trial failures began to grate.
She said: “The hunger was hard. I thought about food all the time. You get a little snappy.
“So there was a bit of frustration with Helen when she kept messing up the trials. But then she went and got 12 stars and we were like, ‘What the heck?’ The jungle was a rollercoaster. But I’m grateful to have had that experience. I’m walking away with some amazing friendships.
“There were moments where I questioned if I could handle it for three weeks. But I knew I wasn’t going to just give up. And now I am just so proud of myself.”
Ashley said she was glad I’m A Celeb had allowed her to emerge from the shadow of Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.
She added: “It’s super-exciting to have people see who I really am. There was no chance for anyone to get to know me in the Pussycat Dolls.”
The series final was watched by 10.2 million viewers — a few hundred thousand down on last year.
  • MP Nadine Dorries, shunned by the Tories for appearing in I’m A Celebrity, yesterday said she was enjoying being an independent backbencher — but predicted her party will take her back soon.
