One Direction, Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran, Cher Lloyd and The Wanted dominate New York's Jingle Ball line up

Taking a British bite out of the Big Apple! One Direction, Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran, Cher Lloyd and The Wanted dominate the Jingle Ball line up

In 1620 the first Brits landed on American soil, and now 392 years later they're still taking over,  this time the U.S. entertainment scene.
Featuring on the bill for New York's Jingle Ball were some of the UK's biggest pop acts including One Direction, Olly Murs, The Wanted and Cher Lloyd.
And Ed Sheeran joined Taylor Swift at the Z100 FM event.

It's no surprise to see the world's biggest boyband performing at the concert and the guests couldn't get enough of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson performance.
But it was surprising to see Olly Murs had secured a slot as his star power is not half as the other member's of the X Factor alumni in Manhattan.
However he surely improved his public appeal after supporting the five-piece on their American tour over the summer.
And after securing album and single chart-topping positions in the UK, he'll hope to replicate the success with continued appearances Stateside.

Cher Lloyd also found her way on to the roster, singing her hits at both the Hammerstein Ballroom then in Madison Square Garden for the main event.
And she had to share her excitement with her followers by tweeting a couple of messages in between each show: 'Had a great time at the Hammerstein ballroom, great crowd!!!xxx(
With The Wanted also sharing the billing with their boyband rivals, one does wonder whether there was any awkward confrontations backstage.

Especially between Zayn and Max George who recently endured a rather catty war of tweets.
But in the name of Christmas, petty arguments must have been put aside for the greater good of entertaining the New York audience at the event presented by Aeropostale.
However one country performer added a touch of English heritage to her act and it didn't come from her new squeeze.
Taylor Swift - who has recently started to date One Direction's Harry Styles - invited Ed Sheeran on stage for a special duet.

The red-headed singer wrote a song - the duet Everything Has Changed - for her chart-topping album Red and performed it together.
Although Ed had the album name tattooed on his arm, this was by no means a sign of their romantic union but a to mark a key moment in the British singer's career.
Performing at New York's most legendary venue will surely have been just as significant.
