Audrey Tautou prepares to kick off Cannes Film Festival as mistress of ceremonies

Audrey Tautou keeps it low key in pretty floral dress as she prepares to kick off Cannes Film Festival as mistress of ceremonies

She is famously not keen on being in the spotlight, but Audrey Tautou was the centre of attention on Tuesday.
The French actress looked picture perfect in a rather low key outfit as she began her duties as mistress of ceremonies at the Cannes Film Festival.
The 36-year-old did her best to appear plain, but even in a relatively simple dress her natural beauty shone through.

The beautiful brunette looked amazing in her white dress which was covered in a small daisy flower print.
With her pixie-like cropped hair contrasting well against her pale skin tone, the Amelie actress walked down the red carpet with class and grace.
Her diminutive frame was heightened slightly by her nude colour heels as she took centre stage in front of a large number of photographers.

Audrey's role at Wednesday's night's opening ceremony will require her to put on the glitz and set aside self-effacement as she welcomes some of the biggest names in the industry, from Steven Spielberg to Nicole Kidman.
She will again have to be centre of attention when she officially closes the ceremony on 26 May.

Jurassic Park director Spielberg will serve as the president of this year's jury, and Palme d’Or winner Jane Campion will preside over the short film jury.
No doubt one of the biggest and most anticipated films at this year's competition is Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, which will see heavyweight names such Leo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire pass through.
Being surrounded by such big movie stars and having the glare of the movie industry on her may be awkward for the shy Audrey.

Amelie, in which a quirky Montmartre waitress played by Tautou decides to dedicate herself to helping others, took over $173 million worldwide and remains the highest-grossing French-language film ever released in the US.
One recent interviewer, Isabelle Girard, concluded that although famous everywhere from 'Hollywood to Kyrgyzstan', Tautou was a shrinking violet who took pleasure in making herself appear invisible.
After her role as mistress of ceremonies is over all eyes are certain to be on her once again as her latest film L'Ecume des Jours about a woman whose illness can only be treated surrounded by flowers has just been released in France to rave reviews.
Some celebrities that have already touched down in Cannes are Julianne Moore, Emma Watson and Lana Del Rey.
