‘That makes me want to drink again’: Lana Del Rey admits she struggles when people dislike her music as she strips for shoot

She has openly spoken about having a drinking problem in her teens which led her to give up alcohol completely.
But despite being sober for over eight years now Lana Del Rey has admitted there are times when she could be tempted to turn to her old demons once more.
Opening up to FASHION Magazine the 27-year-old revealed that getting a lack of respect for her work makes her ‘want to drink again.’

She said: ‘If you are born an artist, you have no choice but to fight to stay an artist.
‘I feel like my work’s important, but I don’t always feel like I get respect for it…when I feel like people don’t like [my] music and that the 10 years I spent making what I made was not for a good reason, that makes me want to drink again.’
Fortunately the Born To Die star is currently being heaped with praise for her song from The Great Gatsby – Young And Beautiful - which many believe will be nominated for a 2014 Academy Award.

Speaking about that praise she told the magazine: ‘Feeling like you’re respected among the people who do the same thing you do is incredible and necessary.
‘I don’t believe in the school of hard knocks, although I’ve had them. All that stuff about whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger is so not true. Do you know what makes you stronger? When people treat you and your art with dignity.’
Posing in a fifties style shoot wearing a range of vintage inspired swimsuits, the star showed off her effortless beauty.

With her hair in loose Hollywood waves and a dash of red lipstick, the star oozed sex appeal as she flashed more flesh than usual in both a stripey bikini with high waisted bottoms and then a bandeau style white bikini top.

Other images show her sitting on a sand dune in a beautiful short dress with her slims legs on show.
Another sees the New Yorker lying on the ground in another intricate looking dress, with her long lashes closed as she appears to sleep.
During the interview the star also spoke about her relationship with Lindsay Lohan.
She shared: ‘She’s really interesting, and she’s a fan of mine and she knows that I love her too.
Anyone who has enough online traction and gains a lot of opinions about them can empathize with her. We are in a similar boat.’
While Lana may think she is similar to Lohan, to everyone else she appears to be living the dream.
Not only is her career going from strength to strength, her personal life is also on a high note.
She has been dating Scottish rocker Barrie-James O’Neill for a year and a half and she reveals in the interview that he is ‘even more of a meticulous, devout artist’ than she is.
And it seems as long as they're dating then more great music will come from the beautiful star.
‘Whenever I’m not writing he always asks, ‘why aren’t you writing?’ We kick each others asses. We give each other input every night,’ she said.
The Summer issue of FASHION Magazine goes on sale May 20, 2013.
