'I feel like the Mother Of Dragons': Emilia Clarke reveals she has come to identify with her Game Of Thrones character in new interview
Emilia Clarke says she feels more like the Mother Of Dragons with each season of Game Of Thrones.
The 26-year-old actress admits in a recent interview that at first the role of Daenerys Targaryen was difficult for her to identify with but as time goes on she sees more of herself in the exiled ruler.
The British star also revealed that the upcoming season four of the hit HBO series 'echoes' her own life in striking ways.
Telling all: Emilia Clarke talks about her role as Mother Of Dragons in Game Of Thrones in new Wall Street Journal interview
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Emilia explained that Daenerys' journey to power mirrors her own growth as an actress.
'It’s the growth of a girl into a woman. She’s being thrown into the deep end, to see if she can sink or swim, and she decides to do it her way.
'It was wonderful to see a character with such humble beginnings, and such low self-esteem, beginning to trust herself.'
Pivotal role: The 26-year-old says she identifies with Daenerys Targaryen
Adding with emphasis: 'So my feelings within filming it were echoed - in a much more dramatic way, obviously.'
She also talked about her audition process, which was far more lighthearted than one might imagine.
'I did the robot, followed by the funky chicken,' she chuckled. 'I think it sealed the deal.'
Far flung: The British actress says since her character is removed from much of the action she has yet to bond with many of her castmates, pictured in Los Angeles in January
But in fact, showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss say it was the actress' ability to be both fearful and fearsome in order to portray the Mother Of Dragons' rise to power.
Meanwhile, the busy actress was recently cast to play Sarah Connor in the upcoming reboot of the Terminator franchise called Genesis.
Emilia will be back playing Daenerys Targaryen on the new season of the HBO drama, which premieres April 6th.
