BRIT Awards 2014: Ellie Goulding has a princess moment, Lily Allen dreams of genie and Nicole Scherzinger goes for bondage chic on the red carpet
By EMILY SHERIDAN and FAY STRANG
She famously played at the wedding reception of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge three years ago.
However, on Wednesday night, it was Ellie Goulding's time to have her own princess moment as she glided onto the red carpet in a billowing pink ballgown.
The blonde, who is up for British Female Solo Artist and Best Single, shunned her usual sexier style for a strapless blush pink and white Vivienne Westwood dress, with her hair in a loose plait.

Having her princess moment: Ellie Golding makes an entrance in a pink and white ballgown as she arrives at the 2014 Brit Awards at London's O2 Arena
It's a cover up: Lily Allen covered up her figure in a navy sequinned dress with bright yellow hair extensions to give her some colour
Ellie, who is performing at the ceremony, was one of the first to arrive at London's O2 Arena for the biggest night of the British music industry calendar.
Comeback queen Lily Allen stood out in a contrast to some of the more revealing outfits by wearing head-to-toe navy sequins.
The mother-of-two went for an I Dream Of Genie-inspired haircut with a high ponytail and bright yellow hair extensions.
Fifty Shades Of Nicole: Former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger wore a leather bralet, bondage-style harness and black trousers
Meanwhile, Nicole Scherzinger was clearly trying to push the envelope in a bondage-inspired ensemble of black trousers, leather bralet and a harness that would make Christian Grey proud.
The former X Factor judge completed her outfit with a pair of gold high-heels and lots of gold jewellery, with her long hair swept back into a ponytail.
Rita Ora, who attended with DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris, certainly turned heads in a yellow Prada column dress with plunging neckline.
Not so mellow yellow! Rita Ora showed some skin in her low-cut, yellow Prada gown
Keeping things in check: Rita makes sure she isn't suffering from a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet
The cross back straps and skimpy cut of the front of the dress meant the singer was showing plenty of flesh - and a hint of side boob as she sashayed along the red carpet.
Jessie J went back to her style beginnings from when she first leaped to fame in 2011 in a bodysuit.
The 25-year-old, who is up for Best Female Artist, showed off her gym-honed physique in a nude Julien Macdonald bodysuit, with a pair of vertingious heels.
That's a strong look! Jessie J wore a Julien Macdonald bodysuit and purple lipstick
Model behaviour: Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley showed off her fabulous legs in a red and black sequinned mini dress
Slinky: Pixie Lott shows off some leg and her toned back in a floor-length white gown by DKNY, which she teamed with a pair of silver high-heels
However, her make-up wasn't quite so popular with the former Voice mentor matching her lilac manicure and pedicure with pale purple lipstick, which some critics compared to 'Rose at the end of Titanic when she's freezing in the Atlantic Ocean'.
Meanwhile, pop star Pixie Lott swapped her usual minis for a slinky white DKNY dress, with a wide back showing off her slender physique.
The 23-year-old completed her look with a sleek blow dry, white handbag and silver high-heels.
Sister act: Kylie and Dannii Minogue arrived on the red carpet together
Can you see my underwear? Well, good! Myleene Klass showed off her skinny frame in a yellow Mark Fast creation
She's a showgirl! Laura Mvula looked like she was straight out of the Moulin Rouge with her ruffled tiered train
A surprise appearance on the red carpet was Dannii Minogue, who arrived on the arm of her big sister Kylie.
Dannii looked sexy in a black asymmetrical dress with lace detailing, while Kylie squeaked along in a black PVC.
Representing the modelling world was the stunning Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who showed off her endless legs in a black and red sequinned mini.
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea toned down her usual extreme style and looked stunning in a red Elie Saab dress, easily becoming one of the most elegant on the Brit Awards red carpet.

Going for a flamboyant look was Laura Mvula, who is up for Best British Female Solo Artist, who went for a showgirl-style white gown, with a long, ruffled train.

Back to black: (L-R) Model Daisy Lowe, singer Lianne La Havas and newcomer Ella Eyre all went for black outfits
Although she was attending with her boyfriend Jack Street, the pair were seated separately from each other.
While many were going for full-length glamour, many of the female celebrites had opted for tighter and shorter outfits.
TV presenter Laura Whitmore was an early arrival and certainly turned heads in a red and black metallic mini-dress with sheer sleeves by Hasan Hejazi .
Going for gold: Urban group Rudimental are nominated in three categories at this year's ceremony

Brit School graduate Katy B opted for a floor-length red gown, which complemented her red hair.
One of the night's big nominees Rudimental, who are up for three categories, arrived as a foursome, while their session singer, The Voice star Becky Hill, posed solo in a black knitted dress.
Here come the boys: (L-R) Critics' Choice winner Sam Smith, radio presenter Marvin Humes, actor Luke Evans and singer Conor Maynard
Dapper: (L-R) Rapper Tinie Tempah, singer/songwriter Tom Odell, nominee John Newman and comedian Leigh Francis, aka Keith Lemon
Looking dapper in a black ensemble and white shoes was Critics' Choice winner Sam Smith, who has enjoyed hit songs with Disclosure and Naughty Boy.
