Eva Longoria oozes glamour in backless top at gala honoring 50 most beautiful people in Hispanic entertainment

It is anything but surprising that Eva Longoria has been named one of the most beautiful people in Hispanic entertainment.

The 40-year-old actress glammed it up at People En Espanol's '50 Most Beautiful' Gala in New York City on Tuesday.

The Desperate Housewives star was a special guest at the event, as she graces the cover of People En Espanol's annual 50 Most Beautiful issue, alongside singer Chayanne, actress Kate del Castillo, and TV presenter Alejandra Espinoza.

The list also features Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, singer Becky G, Orange is the New Black star Dasha Polanco, and Disney Channel's Sofia Carson.

At the gala, Eva took the plunge in a furry black top paired with sleek black trousers as she stood tall in black pointed-toe pumps.

The brunette beauty made her eyes pop with dramatic mascara and accentuated her pout with bright red lipstick.

She wore her hair swept back in a sleek ponytail, allowing her chiselled features to shine.

Earlier in the day, Eva hit the studio to shoot promos for her upcoming TV series, Hot & Bothered, her first series starring role since hit show Desperate Housewives.

The half-hour comedy's official description is as follows: 'If you think the steamy sex, sensational scandals and heart wrenching heartbreak on Latino soap operas are a little extreme, just wait until you see what happens behind the scenes!

'Eva Longoria stars in this new comedy about Ana Sofia, a sizzling TV superstar, and her lively family of cast and crew all competing to steal the spotlight.

'When the cameras turn off, the drama turns up as Ana battles pesky network execs, drunken scriptwriters, narcissistic co-stars and an unfortunately familiar new on-screen love interest.'

Eva is also executive producing the series and had come up with the idea for it, according to Deadline.

Eva is relishing working behind the scenes in a leadership role.

'As an actor you don't have a lot of control of the final product,' she told Parade. 'I think, I don't like leaving this to chance or in the hands of somebody else.

'So becoming a director and a producer was just my evil ploy to control the results of my performances.'

'I'm just in a happy place in my life that it's easy to be open and in love because I am in a complete place in my life,' she told People.

'Whether it's personally, career, new projects, going back to television, there's just so much happiness and joy in my life and I think you know that transmits to everything.'
