AS IT HAPPENS: Jared Leto wins Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club as the 86th Academy Awards get underway

Jared Leto kicked off the 86th Academy Awards as he was named Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Cub.
Anne Hathaway presented the award, for Jared's performance as a transgender HIV sufferer in in the film, and taking to the stage, the actor became emotional as he gave a stirring speech dedicated to his mother Constance.

Starting the show taking aim at the weather, host Ellen DeGeneres got things off to a good start by joking, 'It's been a tough couple of days for us... it's been raining.'
'We're fine, thank you for your prayers,' she added.
