Call The Midwife star Helen George confesses she wants her Strictly costumes to be 'shorter, lower and more glittery'

'You totally get in the mood!' Newly-single Call The Midwife star Helen George confesses she wants her Strictly costumes to be 'shorter, lower and more glittery'

It was confirmed this week that Helen George will embark on Strictly Come Dancing as a single woman, after splitting from her husband of three years.
But while the Call The Midwife star is going through a tumultuous time in her personal life, she is excited for her next venture, telling MailOnline at the launch of the show this week that she's getting into the Strictly spirit by asking for some more daring costumes.
The BBC show, which returns to screens this weekend, is notorious for its risque costumes, but Helen, 31, is keen to switch her nurse's uniform for something a little more glam on Saturday nights.

Helen is best known for playing Nurse Beatrix 'Trixie' Franklin in Call The Midwife, but told MailOnline the best bit about her new Strictly challenge is the chance to change up her look.
'The dresses are one of the best bits and all the glitter,' she gushed. 'The costumes are incredible and things you’d never wear. If someone in real life said “wear that” you’d be like “there’s no way.”'
Helen admitted that she's even asked the costume department to make some alterations to her sparkly dresses as she throws herself into the glam show.

'You totally get in the mood and you’re like “ooh let’s have it a bit shorter, have it a bit lower, have a bit more glitter.”'
The actress added that she's going to have to juggle her demanding role on Call The Midwife, which starts shooting its fifth series this year, with Strictly rehearsals.
'I’m doing both at the same time, I’m a bit worried about it,' Helen admitted. 'Most of the time it’ll be alright, it’ll just be the days when I’ve got loads of medical stuff, because I find it quite hard to learn the language, so that’ll be quite tricky.'
'But it’ll be lovely having all my mates from Call The Midwife meeting all the dancers. I’m going to be sweating through my nurse’s outfit if I train in that on set though!'

The actress may star in one of the biggest dramas on TV, but she confessed she's incredibly nervous about being herself in front of the cameras, and will have to find her inner Beyonce.
'I’m not so nervous about the dancing as such, well I am obviously really nervous about that but the pro dancers are so supportive, but I’m nervous about all the camera stuff. I’m not used to just being myself in front of the camera,' she explained.
'I find it really intimidating, not being in character. I’m getting sweaty palms just thinking about it. I’m going to have to find a character.'
It was confirmed this week that Helen has split for her husband-of-three years, fellow actor Oliver Boot, who she met on the set of BBC drama Hotel Babylon, before marrying in December 2012.

'I can confirm that Helen separated from her husband some time ago,' a spokesperson told Mirror Online.
The Call The Midwife star will now embark on Strictly as a single woman, a show which has been known to split couples and create new ones.
On Saturday night, viewers will see Helen and her fellow competitors, who include Peter Andre, Jamelia and soap stars Georgia May Foote and Kellie Bright, matched with their pro partners, when the 2015 series kicks off at 7:15pm on BBC One.
