Dozens of Directioners, as the group's fans are known, who camped out overnight have been joined by masses more from around the UK, with some singing the band's hits and others wearing masks of the lads.
But it wasn't just the fans who turned up to support the boys as Zayn Malik was lucky enough to have both his mother and girlfriend Perrie Edwards along.
Perrie stunned in a black long dress with embellished black top by AW13 Patricia Bonaldi as she brought her Little Mix girls Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall along.
The five-piece appeared on the red carpet before their film, One Direction: This Is Us, was screened in London.
The film has been made by Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlock and follows their life on the road during their rise to worldwide fame.
Just a bit popular! Fans had camped out over 24 hours to make sure they got a good spot to try and catch a glimpse of the boys

The band - Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - held a press conference in north London on Monday with Spurlock where Payne said the film was "nerve-wracking" to make, but admitted there could be a follow-up if it is a hit.
Ceri Evans, 31, travelled yesterday from Flintshire, North Wales, with her son Callum, 14, who has a terminal illness of the heart.
Ms Evans said Callum first met the boys in 2010 after he was granted a wish to have lunch with X Factor acts and judges, including Simon Cowell.

She said they stayed in a hotel overnight and are excited by the premiere.
Ms Evans said: 'Callum is obsessed with One Direction and he loves them. It's amazing to see the crowds here as there's nothing like this in North Wales. We have to come to London to see people like One Direction.
'In 2010, he got to have lunch with them in the (X Factor) canteen and ever since then he's loved them. They were really nice and they were good with him. They have really nice personalities.
'We've booked to see them next year on the tour in Manchester.'

Emily Gee, 16, of Solihull, West Midlands, camped out overnight while her mother stayed in a nearby hotel. She said the Directioners are similar to a big family.
Emily said: 'I arrived yesterday at 4pm and then I started camping out - I didn't sleep at all. I'm completely shattered. I don't know how to explain in words how I feel. I'm buzzing - I can't wait.'
Spaniard Iraia Landaluze, 18, is visiting London with her family and they also joined the queue in Leicester Square.

Organisers have been encouraging people to stay away and watch from home.
They said: 'Event staff on the ground, the Metropolitan Police and Westminster City Council will be working together to ensure the safety of fans, guests and staff on the day.
'We would like to remind fans that the red carpet is being streamed live all over the world, so they can get the best views from the comfort of their own homes.'

Payne said it was "difficult to watch" the new film because it showed how upset their parents were when they left home to tour the world.
One scene features his father talking about how much he misses his son.
The star told BBC Breakfast: 'For me that was a bit difficult to watch. He's always so happy when I see him and happy to have me home; to actually see what he's like when I'm not there was a bit mad.'

Bandmate Tomlinson agreed it was "tough" for their parents.
He said: 'You know a lot of families anticipate that once you get to 18 you'll go to university and mothers know that that's the day, whereas for us it kind of just happened out of the blue and our mums just had to wave goodbye to us on The X Factor, so I think it was a lot for them to take in at first.'
The boyband have topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, becoming the first British act to top the US Billboard chart with their debut album.

Tomlinson said one advantage of making the film was it helped them remember everything that had happened to them in the last few years.
He said: 'Because so much is happening to us, you kind of just lose it all. It's great just to sit back and watch it back and remember and relive those moments.'
Styles said the film would allow fans to learn more about them, adding: 'We just want to show what we're about and with social media and stuff there's only so much you can get across in terms of your personality.'
Asked why there was no sex or drugs in the film, he joked: 'This is a family press conference.'
Tomlinson added: 'We like to think we're rock 'n' roll but we're not really.'
Styles said they did not cut many scenes from the film, adding that it "was more putting in stuff we remembered we really wanted".
But Tomlinson said it was difficult to put everything in because "you've got five people's personalities to get across so it's actually quite hard".

Spurlock said fans would enjoy seeing how "normal" the band are.
He said: 'There is no air of superiority, there is no air of success that permeates this movie.
'You see five guys who are the same five guys they were three years ago.'
