'We mutually ignore each other': Jennifer Lawrence reveals how having space keeps her relationship strong as she poses for stunning shoot
Amongst many A-list couples, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are refreshingly un-Hollywood.
And the Academy Award winning actress has revealed that what keeps their relationship strong is their decision to ‘ignore each other’ while they’re working.
Jennifer chatted to Marie Claire about her British boyfriend, who she has been dating on and off for three years, and posed for a stunning cover shoot for the magazine.
It girl: Jennifer Lawrence has revealed the secret to her relationship with Nicholas Hoult and posed in a gorgeous new shoot for Marie Claire
‘When we’re busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other,’ she said, explaining the pair’s decision to do their own thing rather than have regular Skype calls. ‘Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn’t text back or call.
‘Life’s super-busy. Obviously you know what they’re doing, and you trust them. We’re so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We’d be living together.
‘At least this way he’s in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other.’
Gorgeous: The actress graces the cover of the June issue of the magazine, out May 20, in which she says she and her boyfriend 'ignore each other' when they are busy
The 23-year-old, who had three or four steady boyfriends before 24-year-old Nicholas, has a rule not to talk about her relationship, but regularly breaks it.
The two actors met and fell in love on set of X-Men: First Class, and after breaking up for a spell rekindled their romance while working on the upcoming sequel, Days Of Future Past.
Jennifer appears to be loved by everyone for her candour, but she admitted: ‘I’m not like, “I’m a rebel; I’m out of control.” I just don’t think about things before I say or do them.’

But some people have suggested that it’s not all genuine, and gone so far as to claim that the Hunger Games star’s fall at the Oscars was staged to make her seem more down-to-earth.
Jennifer revealed to Marie Claire: ‘I’m trying to do the right thing, waving to fans, trying to be nice, and there’s a traffic cone. The second I hit it, I was laughing, but on the inside I was like, “You’re f***ed. They’re totally going to think this is an act.”
‘But trust me if I was going to plan it, I would have done it at the Golden Globes or the SAGs. I would have never done it at two Oscars in a row. I watch Homeland – I’m craftier than that!’
Not faking it: The 23-year-old said she thought people would think her second Oscars fall was not genuine, but it was all real
What’s more, suggestions of rivalry between her and fellow actresses couldn’t be further from the truth, Jennifer said, referring to reports she is jealous of Kristen Stewart.
‘There was something in a magazine, and I was like, “Oh, my God, that’s hilarious,” because Kristen and I are friends,’ she recalled. ‘I actually texted her a picture of it and was like, “Just so you know, this is absolutely true.”’
And if anything, Jennifer said she was delighted to be up against Lupita Nyong’o in the Best Supporting Actress category at the Oscars, and voted for the 12 Years A Slave star.
No rivalry here: Jennifer texted her friend Kristen Stewart, who she is pictured with at the 2013 Oscars, as a joke after hearing reading reports of jealousy between them
‘I was very happy I voted for Lupita,’ Jennifer gushed. ‘It’s beautiful when you watch something good happen to somebody when it’s well deserved.’
Meanwhile, the star is gorgeous in just a fuchsia coat for one image in the magazine's shoot, while looking fresh-faced in pink and green on the cover.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be released in the US on May 23 and the UK on May 22. The June issue of Marie Claire hits newsstands on May 20.
