Salma Hayek shows off her amazing hourglass shape in Harper's Bazaar

Is there something wrong with her eyesight? Salma Hayek shows off her amazing hourglass shape in stylish mag shoot... as she labels herself 'short and chubby'

Her beauty and enviable hourglass figure have made her one of Hollywood’s most glamorous and successful stars.
But ‘short and chubby’ is how Salma Hayek perceives herself.
And the Mexican actress, who last month turned 46, has called it a ‘miracle’ that she is still working.
Miss Hayek has just finished work on the latest Oliver Stone film, Savages, opposite the popular American starlet, Blake Lively.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she attributes her success to luck and appears to be one of the few stars to acknowledge how difficult it is to carry on working in Hollywood once you get to a certain age.
She said: ‘The worst thing you can be in Hollywood is a woman and over 40. On top of that, I have an accent, am dyslexic, short and chubby. You name it I have it, but I am here. I must be the luckiest girl in the world to be working’.
Miss Hayek has been a Hollywood staple for more than fifteen years since finding fame in the 1995 film, Desperado.
She has appeared in more than 40 films including her starring role portraying the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in the 2002 film Frida.

The role won her critical acclaim and she received a best actress Oscar nomination in 2003 for her performance.
And in an industry saturated with women who refuse to eat, Miss Hayek admits with refreshing honesty that she enjoys her life too much to waste time dieting.
‘I am on the limit of chubbiness because I love my food and my wine.  It’s not the best for fashion, but it’s good for my mood.  I am happy because I eat. I am 46; I will not have Botox. You know why (I don’t need to do it)? Because I eat! I eat the fat, I eat the vegetables, I eat everything. If you exercise too much and you don’t eat enough, it takes its toll on the skin.  Everything starts ageing.  If you don’t eat carbs, you slow your metabolism down.  And you know what? You look miserable.  The truth is I just don’t have the drive to be the prettiest and the thinnest. I can be happy for other people for their beauty.  Learn to be happy for others and you can never run out of happiness.’
Miss Hayek, who was once voted by US magazine Time as one of the most influential Hispanic stars ever, spent four years as an executive producer on the television series Ugly Betty.

Aired around the world in several countries, it tells the story of a young Mexican girl who enters the fashion world, despite lacking her own personal style.
Miss Hayek, who has often been credited with the success of the series, says she admires Madonna for being a role model for the older woman.
She said: ‘Do I envy Madonna’s body? Yes. Do I thank God that she has it? Yes! If you’re fifty something and you look like Madonna, and you put a lifetime’s work in the way you look, then flash it to the world!’
And the actress who has stood out for her quintessential Latino curves in an industry full of waifs, hit out at the fashion industry for promoting a limited ideal of beauty.
She said: ’in recent years, we have had to fight against our genetic nature to look like little boys, to be socially accepted as beautiful. It used to be that a young girl couldn’t wait to grow up and take the shape of a woman. Now our goal is regression, to look younger and like a child. There has not been enough diversity of boy shape in fashion’.
As well as being a Hollywood star, Miss Hayek is also a mother to her five-year-old daughter Valentina with her husband French billionaire Francois Henri Pinault.
The pair met in 2007 and as Chief Executive of French company PPR, Mr Pinault manages a portfolio of luxury brands including Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci.
Once one of the most eligible bachelors in the world, it was revealed in 2011 that Pinault is also a father to supermodel Linda Evangelista’s four-year old son Augustin James, after being named in a paternity case.
