Pixie Lott turns soldier for the day as she heads to an RAF base to launch this year's Poppy Appeal

Getting behind our boys: Pixie Lott turns soldier for the day as she heads to an RAF base to launch this year's Poppy Appeal

You're more likely to see her on the dancefloor than on a training field, but Pixie Lott swapped her stilettos for Army boots on Wednesday.
She might be known for her upbeat pop songs and nights out, but the young singer revealed her serious side as an ambassador of the Royal British Legion.
The popstar stopped by RAF Northolt in London to kickstart this year's Poppy Appeal and meet the soldiers and their families.

Wearing a beige mac and a red tea-dress, Pixie got into the spirit of things by adding a grey beret and practicing a salute with the soldiers.
Chatting the troops, the blonde star seemed to be having a great time as she laughed and joked with everyone
The Mama Do star even grabbed a bayonet before watching a demonstration by the Queen's Colour Squadron RAF regiment.

The 21-year-old decided to back the campaign as her grandad served with the Royal Navy and her great-grandad was in the Royal Marines Light Infantry.
She told The Sun that she'd had a great day but was surprised by the age of all the troops:
'What struck me the most was how young they all were. It's amazing the selfless commitment - their bravery is beyond words. That's why I'm standing shoulder to shoulder with our brave boys and girls.'

Pixie changed out of her Army gear and donned a conservative, black, spotted dress with a pair of small black heels.
She added a smart, retro style jacket with a fur-trimmed collar and painted her nails deep red, evoking old school glamour.
Pixie's boyfriend Oliver Cheshire looked proud as he watched on from the side of the stage, cheering on his girlfriend.
