But actress Helen Flanagan proved her fashion critics wrong when she stepped out in a sophisticated white dress and minimal make-up during a recent trip to Dubai.
The former I'm A Celebrity contestant seemed to have left the false lashes and garish lipstick at home as she embraced old school Hollywood glamour for her night out.

With her trademark blonde hair tied in her favourite top knot, the star showed off her healthy-looking tan as she headed out for dinner at the Siddharta lounge with friends.
She's never been afraid to flash the flesh before but Helen seemed to come over all demure during her trip, covering up her famed curves in the chic white dress.
Clinched in at the waist with a matching belt, the skirt of the dress was cut just above the knee and had an elegant criss-cross neckline.
The star added a pair of simple beige peep-toe shoes and kept her jewellery minimal, wearing just one large ring on her finger and opting for no necklace or bracelets.

Making the most of her natural-looking tan, the former Corrie star wore very little make-up on her face, adding just a touch of mascara and a splash of nude lipgloss.
Despite her demure and sophisticated attire, the 22-year-old couldn't miss an opportunity to strike a pose for the cameras, giving her best pout.
Last week Helen took to the stage at the National Television Awards to collect the trophy for I'm A Celebrity, wearing an equally modest dress.

Instead of showing off her much lauded figure, the actress covered up again in a floral, below-the-knee red carpet gown.
Although she made her name on ITV soap Corrie, it seems that her character won't be making a return any time soon, after making claims that her time on set contributed to her depression.
'There was a lot of disappointment on the set when Helen came out and said what she did, especially as people looked after her on the show,' an insider told Digital Spy.
