Following a meltdown and a serious eating disorder at the tender age of 16 she put her A levels on hold to focus purely on her acting skills.
But six years on, Helen Flanagan is finally ready to give her shot at going to university another go.
Stating that she's no bimbo, Flanagan, 22, does her best studious impression as she opens up to Love it! magazine about her academic plans.

Despite admitting earlier this week she is unsure when she will get around to returning to education, Helen told Love It! that she plans to complete her A-levels in 2014.
Admitting she wants to take on History, Religious Studies and Philosophy at college, Helen added: 'I really, really want to finish my studies.I think it's so cool when girls are at school trying to do well and striving for the best job.
'I want to do it for myself next year, even if that means finishing my A levels at home and waiting a few years to do a university course.'

In the shoot, which took place at London's King College, Helen wears a two-piece checked suit as shows off her toned legs in a pair of suspenders.
With her blonde hair up in a chic do, the former Coronation Street actress sports a pair of spectacles and covers her lips in a shade of deep red lipstick.
Completing her racy look with a pair of red heels, Flanagan gets her head into the books as she reveals her boyfriend Scott Sinclair dislikes when people think the worst of her.

Speaking about her footballer beau, who she describes as her 'only serious' lover, Helen admitted: 'He [Scott] gets annoyed when people say I'm stupid because he knows I'm not.
'People think that if you do sexy modelling, you're a bimbo or promiscuous - and I'm neither. Scott supports my modelling.'
The couple who have been dating since for three years, currently share a home in Prestbury, Cheshire, and despite Helen's numerous attention grabbing ensemble she says Scott hardly sees that side of her.
She added: 'He jokes that everyone else gets to see me in sexy outfits, but I hang around him in trackie bottoms.'
And retelling the events that changed her life forever, the blonde said: 'I never want to be that age again, because it was such a struggle.
'I became obsessed with my body. I couldn't deal with it when I put weight on, or had bad skin, and it got so serious, I couldn't concentrate at school, so I just went off the rails.'
But now with her life finally in a happy place, Helen continued: 'I was more conscious of my image growing up, because of the fame from Corrie.
'I can't say I was robbed of my childhood, but it made me mature very young. I'm very childish in other ways, though.
'I don't regret it, because things have still panned out well, but it'll be nice to have something to focus my mind on in the future when I finish my A levels.'
