Bright young thing! Lupita Nyong'o leads the stars on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet in a stunning rainbow speckled dress
It's one of the most fun events of the year and Lupita Nyong'o and Jessica Alba were two stars who made sure their outfits reflected this at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Oscar winner Lupita, who presented the Best On-Screen Transformation award, yet again showed her red carpet prowess as she took a risk in a bold printed Chanel dress - and it definitely paid off.
The actress stood out in the white pleated dress that had black piping and was flecked with spots in various bright colours, and she teamed it with baby blue Casadei pumps that had red heels, Vita Fede jewellery, dark lipstick and silver eyeshadow.

Bright sparks: In their bold and playful outfits, Lupita Nyong'o (L) and Jessica Alba stood out at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday
Meanwhile Jessica went for a very playful look in a lemon yellow high-waisted Kenzo skirt that puffed out around her, along with a tiny white strapless crop top by Piece D'anarchive and black and white patterned Jimmy Choo court shoes.
Rihanna unsurprisingly went for a very racy ensemble in a cream satin Ulyana Sergeenko dressing gown over a matching bustier and sky high Manolo Blahnik shoes, and expertly smouldered for the cameras.
It wasn't hard to see why Channing Tatum looked like the cat that got the cream as he was joined by his glamorous wife Jenna Dewan who sported a sheer black top with strategically placed embellishment and a matching leather skirt.
Oh you pretty thing: Lupita went for a winning look in a pleated white dress with multi-coloured spots and black piping, along with blue shoes that had red heels which blended in with the carpet
Fantastic form: Jessica was displaying her stunning figure in a lemon yellow high-waisted skirt with a white strapless crop top
Meanwhile Ellen Page kept it very casual in a large shirt with a blue tie, along with black trousers and matching dress shoes.
Kicking things off on the red carpet were pregnant reality stars Snooki and JWoww, who as usual due to the extreme height difference between them looked like something of a comedy duo.
Snooki wore a black sundress with red rose detail which she designed herself, and it was a perfect complement to her fiery hair colour and deep crimson lipstick.
Bedroom eyes: Rihanna as usual looked very sultry in a white satin Ulyana Sergeenko dressing gown over a matching bustier
The centre of attention: The cameras went crazy for Rihanna and her amazing body as she smouldered on the red carpet
A Dauntless look: Shailene Woodley looked gorgeous in a khaki leather outfit featuring a knotted top and high-waisted pleated skirt
The 4ft 8in Jersey Shore star, who is already a mother to little Lorenzo, gave herself a boost in high beige sandals and displayed her very tiny baby bump.
Snooki revealed that this pregnancy is very different to her first one, and told MailOnline: 'I'm working out and I'm in a better mood. I think it's because I'm exercising and not gaining a ton of weight.'
She added: 'I like staying in still with my baby but I'm here today to have a little fun. This is probably the first one of these events I'm sober at so pregnancy changes things for sure.'
A sheer delight: Jenna Dewan looked amazing in a black see-through top with strategically placed embellishment and a matching pencil skirt
A very attractive couple: Channing Tatum looked like the cat that got the cream and it wasn't hard to see why as he posed with his beautiful wife
Keeping it casual: Ellen Page wore an oversized shirt with a tie, along with skinny black trousers and matching dress shoes
Meanwhile Jenni 'JWoww' Farley, who is expecting her first child, has a more sizeable belly which she dressed in a black gown with plunging jewel encrusted neckline.
She was joined by fiance Roger Mathews who looked very excited to become a father as he rubbed his bride-to-be's bump.
Divergent star Shailene Woodley was going for a Dauntless look in a khaki leather outfit which was made up of a knotted long-sleeved top and high-waisted pleated skirt, which she teamed with sexy fringed black sandals and smoky eye make-up.
Best friends forever: Snooki and JWoww arrived on the red carpet together looking like a comedy duo as usual
Mamma mia: The Jersey Shore stars are both pregnant and dressed their respective baby bumps in very different ways
Proud papa: JWoww was joined by her fiance Roger Mathews who happily rubbed her growing belly
Some of the first arrivals included Shake It Up co-stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya.
The Disney princesses looked lovely in pretty dresses and while they may be precocious teenagers, the pair wanted to dress their age.
Bella, 16, who went to her prom last night, picked a powder blue ruched flock with floral detailing.
Just married: Newlyweds Sara Gilbert (L) and Linda Perry had their arms wrapped around each other as they arrived at the event
Shaking up the red carpet: Co-stars Zendaya (L) and Bella Thorne dressed their age in pretty and playful frocks
The unusual dress, designed by Versace, was asymmetric with a long sleeve on one side and no sleeve on the other, and also boasted a cut-out section across the stomach.
Meanwhile 17-year-old Zendaya chose a pretty yellow and black printed floral number by Ungaro with long sleeves and a split up one side.
While Bella wore strappy silver Jimmy Choo sandals, Zendaya picked elegant black lace Christian Louboutin pumps.
Having an awful time: Grumpy Cat made a special appearance on the red carpet and was wearing a miniature Pharrell inspired hat
As cute as can be: Chrissy Teigen (L) and Jillian Rose picked similar shaped strapless mini-dresses with puffed out skirts. Chrissy's was designed by Ulyana Sergeenko and she teamed it with black patent Christian Louboutin pumps and Shylee Rose jewellery
Newlyweds Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry arrived on the red carpet with their arms wrapped around each other and Linda told MailOnline: 'I'm actually wearing my wedding outfit again because it was last minute. Our wedding was amazing.
'Sara is very particular so she did a great job right down to the last detail. We had '80s music because we both love it. It was one big burst of excitement. She's my soulmate.' Sara added: 'Also Linda surprised me with a song too.'
When asked who takes longer to get ready, Linda said it's Sara, and explained: 'I find it difficult to find something to wear because I'm not a lady but I'm not a gentleman.'
Funny family: Judd Apatow and wife Leslie Mann were joined by daughters Maude and Iris
Look at me!: Leslie made sure she got noticed as she goofed around while posing for photographers in her polka dot Juan Carlos Obando number
Keeping it classic: Both Rita Ora (L) and Nicki Minaj played it relatively safe in floor-length black dresses but weren't afraid to show some cleavage
It may have been a film awards but it wasn't just an event for actors and there were also musicians on hand in the form of Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Iggy Azalea and Pia Mia.
Iggy and Pia were courting attention, with the blonde Australian singer in a cut-out pink dress and platforms and the American star in a striking purple crop top, pencil skirt and headband.
Nicki and Rita, who presented during the evening, both picked floor-length black numbers which showed plenty of cleavage with Nicki in Alexander McQueen and Rita sporting Barbara Casasola.
Ellie, who hails from the UK, looked gorgeous in a flowing white Giorgio Armani dress with cut-out sides and Jimmy Choo shoes.
We're here too!: (L-R) It wasn't just about the actors as singers Ellie Goulding, Pia Mia and Iggy Azalea were also at the bash

Cute couple: Victoria Justice brought her actor boyfriend Pierson Fode and looked pretty in a teeny pink dress by Atelier Versace
Eye candy: That Awkward Moment co-stars Miles Teller (L) and Zac Efron made for a hunky duo at the star-studded event
She was joined by husband Judd Apatow and the pair also brought along daughters Maude and Iris, who were no doubt excited to meet some of their favourite stars.
With the likes of Zac Efron, Adrian Grenier, Chris Pratt and Miles Teller also in attendance, there was plenty of male eye candy on hand.
Together again: Entourage stars Adrian Grenier and Jerry Ferrera took a break from filming their movie to hit the bash together
Anything goes: (L-R) Kat Graham, who wore Roberto Cavalli, Debby Ryan and Karina Smirnoff all picked very different styles for the occasion
Best supporting partners: The evening's host Conan O'Brien (L) was joined by wife Liza Powel while David Hasselhoff brought girlfriend Hayley Roberts along
The future: Representing young actors were Jackson Nicoll, 10, Liam James, 17, and 21-year-old Will Poulter
A very special guest in the form of Grumpy Cat was also at the event, and as usual looked like she was having a terrible time while sporting a miniature version of Pharrell's now famous Vivienne Westwood hat.
The ceremony recognises the best acting performances of the past year, but there are also some very tongue-in-cheek categories such as Best Shirtless Performance, #WTF Moment, Best Kiss and Best Scared-As-S*** Performance.
