The ball was just one of many to celebrate President Obama's second Inauguration.
Across town, Jennifer Hudson was given the top honour of serenading the President and First Lady Michelle at his Inaugural Ball.
The 31-year-old former American Idol winner sang Al Green's Let's Stay Together for the couple's  first dance.
The stunning star looked sensational in a slinky cowl neck black gown and sparkly platform high heels for her performance.

Jennifer's black dress fitted the singer, who lost 80 pounds through Weight Watchers, like a glove, and clung to her curves in all the right places.
She accessorised with large hoop earrings, an oversized cocktail ring and several bejewelled bangles, and wore her hair out in tumbling curls
Jennifer sang and watched on as a clearly smitten President and his wife of 20 years kissed as they waltz around onstage.

The President and First Lady attended two inauguration balls at the Washington Convention Center on Monday night.
One was The Inaugural Ball and the other was the Commander-in-Chief's Ball, and many big name performers appeared onstage at both.
Meanwhile, Alicia Keys slipped into a slinky sequined red backless gown as she sat down at her piano to perform.
And she certainly didn't disappoint.
As Alicia did a blazing rendition of her hit song, Girl On Fire.
Sweet serenade: Across town, Jennifer Hudson was given the top honour of serenading President Obama and First Lady Michelle at his Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C on Monday night

Belting out the words and hitting the keys on her piano, the stunning star had the audience captivated.
Alicia even altered the lyrics of the song especially for the President, singing that it was indeed Obama who was the one which was on fire.
With the formal portion of the day over, all that was left for the President and First Lady was to kick up their heels at the Inauguration Ball to celebrate his second term.
The Obamas appeared on stage at the Washington Convention Center to wild cheering and thunderous applause from thousands of people.
First Lady Michelle's choice of dress was finally revealed - a dramatic, red chiffon and velvet gown by Jason Wu. The designer had also created her dress for the 2008 ball.
