Speaking about her portrayal of the biopic, Amanda revealed to Vanity Fair the hilarious technicalities involved in mastering certain sex scenes with her Lovelace co-star Peter Sarsgaard, who plays her on-screen husband and manager Chuck Traynor.
The Les Miserable star said: 'We were doing a scene where I was supposed to be going down on Peter Sarsgaard, we used a popsicle, and I had my arms covering the popsicle.
'It was footage that he was going to show the Deep Throat guy, to get her into the movie, to get her cast.'
She added: 'I was laughing hysterically throughout. I couldn’t stop laughing.'

Lovelace also stars Sharon Stone, James Franco as Hugh Hefner, Juno Temple, Robert Patrick, Wes Bentley and Chloë Sevigny.
Last January Demi Moore was cast as Gloria Steinem in the film but dropped out of production prior to her stint in rehab.
As a result, Moore was replaced by Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker.
Kate Hudson was originally asked to play Linda until it was announced last November that Seyfried was up for the role.
The film, which is yet to get an official release date, will chart the troubled relationship the Deep Throat star had with pornographer Traynor, she later blamed him for coercing her into the sex movie industry.
The 1972 film Deep Throat was widely regarded as the first porn movie with an actual plot - Lovelace later alleged Traynor had forced her to do the film at gunpoint.
She further alleged he would beat her during their three year marriage in the early Seventies and force her into having sex with other men.
