The Zero Dark Thirty star suffered a fashion fail wearing a lampshade inspired dress as she attended the Chanel Pre-Oscar dinner at Madeo Restaurant, in LA on Saturday evening.
In contrast Kate Bosworth looked the epitome of a fashion darling as she shone in a demure pale pink dress.

Red-headed Jessica certainly managed to turn heads in her white pleated gown but for all the wrong reasons.
The outfit, which not only looked like it had taken inspiration from a lampshade, pulled across her stomach in an unflattering fashion.
While her dress was certainly daring – as her cleavage was on display- her bosom looked a touch constrained as a pair of straps crossed over her chest.

Not wanting to distract from her dress she wore her famous hair off her head in an up-do, which looked a little old-fashioned.
She completed the look with a pair of pale gold heels which just washed out the colour of her skin even further.
Perhaps she was saving all her fashion sense for the Oscars, where her film is up for Best Picture.

Meanwhile Kate Bosworth showed her how it’s done in a futuristic yet demure tweed dress.
The pale pink number included an impressive shoulder feature which gave the girly outfit a fierce edge.
The 30-year-old wore her hair slicked back off her face and she accessorised with a small black clutch and black heels.
Representing: While Andrea Riseborough (L) looked like a poster girl for Chanel, Rachel Zoe (R) didn't impress in her black number
Flying the flag: Brit actress Talulah Riley carried a small clutch which featured the Union Jack on it
Monochrome: Laura Bailey (L) and Alice Evans (R) both opted for black and white ensembles although Laura's featured a more glam feel with sequins
The two actress spent the evening mingling with a whole host of well-dressed stars who were enjoying the evening ahead of Sunday night’s Oscars.
While the party was rather female dominated, Adrien Brody helped fill the male quota and did so in a particularly dapper fashion wearing a black suit and black shirt.
He was accompanied by his girlfriend Lara Lieto who didn’t seem to get the memo about dressing classily.

Instead the model wore a skintight black leather dress and a pair of over-the-knee boots which would look more suitable in a nightclub.
Mad Men actress January Jones opted for a slightly more casual look than others which nonetheless looked great and like it may have taken inspiration from her character Betty Draper.
English model Rosie Huntington Whiteley opted for a an exciting black and white jumpsuit, which she wore with her hair in Hollywood curls and with a long gold necklace.

American actress Zoe Kravitz seemed intent on showing off figure in a see-through black dress.
Showing that the younger generation of actress can look just as good as their older counterparts Chloe Moretz looked super chic in a cream boucle dress, which worked well with her new dark hair.
Stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe went for a rather understated outfit, while her hair looked a little old-fashioned in the way it had been styled.

The Brits were out in force for the evening, showing off their fashion credentials. They included Felicity Jones, Alice Evans, Emily Mortimer, Talulah Riley, Alice Eve, Laura Bailey and Livia Firth.
