Painting the carpet black: Jessie J leads the glamour at the Brit Awards in plunging gown alongside Taylor Swift and Emeli Sande in their own LBDs
It was the big night in the music calendar, bringing out anyone and everyone from the world of music all together in one room.
So it was of course going to go down as one of the most glamorous nights of 2013 despite it still only being February.
And it was down to Jessie J to lead the stars on the red carpet, starting the trend for the large number of black frocks gracing the event.
That's a bit daring! Jessie J leads the glamour on the Brit Awards red carpet on Wednesday night in a plunging black frock down to her naval as she joined the rest of the black dress brigade
Making quite an entrance: She shunned her usual style of PVC catsuits and quirky fashion to doll herself up in the floorlength frock, which also flashed a bit of leg
The Price Tag hitmaker stunned in her plunging Versace frock with Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch as she went for the daring gown.
And she even accessorised to perfection, wearing 1980s Gold Tone Hoop Earrings from the Susan Caplan Vintage Collection, while adding co-ordinating with a Gold Tone Pyramid Ring also from Susan Caplan Vintage Collection to finish off her ensemble nicely.
She arrived alongside Taylor Swift, who similarly went for a floorlength Elie Saab black number.
Swift ensured she stood out knowing full well her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles would be there with his One Direction buddies.
The American singer went for a suggestive gown with sheer panelling to reveal her legs as she posed up a storm before heading inside.
Are you watching, Harry? Taylor Swift also went for floorlength jet black in her Elie Saab gown knowing she could bump into ex-boyfriend Harry Styles who was also attending
Lady in black: Swift also went for a daring number with her high cut sheer panels showing off her legs as she posed up for the cameras
Emeli Sande, meanwhile made up some of the music names attending on the night.
Nominated for best British Female, she looked pleased as she anticipated the night ahead while walking in.
She looked stylish although she played it safe in her black frock and bleach blonde quiff.
Ready for the outcome: Emeli Sande also wore black as she showed off her legs in her play it safe mini-dress ready to find out if she will pick up the Best British Female trophy
Ready to party: Emeli Sande, Rebecca Ferguson and Jessie Ware also seemed to be in keeping with the black trend on the night as they walked into the O2 Arena
Miaow! Ashley Roberts showed off plenty of skin in a see through frock over a strapless leotard with a cinched in waist, which she confidently showed off
Strike a pose: It seemed like many of the female guests had discussed their outfits and decided to come in co-ordinating ensembles as they walked the red carpet
Having a good time? Jessie Ware burst into laughter as she arrived before going inside, while Delilah kept it sleek in her own black floorlength dress
Black seemed to be the trend of the evening as more and more stars flocked to the bash ahead of the big reveal by presenter James Corden.
Stars including Delilah, who wore a sleek number with keyhole detailing around her cleavage, and Rebecca Ferguson also wore black ensemble, with the former X Factor star showing off some skin with her lace front.
Gemma Arterton and Laura Whitmore of course also pulled out all the stops to stand out at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night.
Well she is a Bond girl: Berenice Marlohe went for all over metallic in a floorlength foil type silver dress which showed off her ample assets
A sea of blue: Caroline Flack overcame her bout of food poisoning to attend in her navy floating frock, while Jo Whiley also went for blue and Katherine Jenkins committed a rare fashion fail in her printed frock
Former Bond Girl Gemma stood out in a sequin ruby red Jonathan Saunders dress with button detailing as she became one of the first to turn up in front of the waiting press.
She smouldered with matching red lipstick, while pretty TV presenter Laura braved being the first to walk the red carpet at the bash, following a busy fortnight of London Fashion Week parties and red carpet events.
Shining bright: Gemma Arterton lead the glamour at the 2013 BRIT Awards as she walked the red carpet in a sequin shirt dress and matching rouge lipstick
She stood out in a metallic mini-dress by Zoë Jordan with her slender legs on full show.
The 27-year-old accessorised with nude pointy heels and plenty of gold jewellery to co-ordinate with the ensemble, including a Monica Vinader cuff.
Dressed in their finest: Gemma went for a shimmering red get-up, while Emeli Sande, who is up for best British Female looked svelte in her black frock on the night
Rita Ora meanwhile was one of the other big music stars attending the bash.
The Hot Right Now singer attended the annual ceremony last year and loved watching the show, but is even more excited by tonight's show because there is a chance she could go home with an award.
Rita - who is nominated for British Breakthrough Act and Best British Single for both her track R.I.P and Hot Right Now, her collaboration with DJ Fresh - said ahead of the ceremony: 'It's going to be different this year. I'm really excited and nervous because I am nominated. To win would be a great achievement for me and my fans, but we'll see.'
Rita admitted she is considering a number of outfit changes but despite the show, which takes place at London's The O2, being just hours away, she still doesn't know what to wear.
She told The Sun newspaper: 'You know I like to change my outfits! I will leave it until the last minute and change my mind and then my team will start hyperventilating!'
Of course she's there! Laura Whitmore opted for a metallic mini-dress by Zoe Jordan for the ceremony, showing off her slender bare legs as she was the first to make her way on to the red carpet
Even if she doesn't win, the 22-year-old star is excited about the show because Justin Timberlake is one of the acts performing.
She told Capital FM: 'I'm really excited, I love Timberlake. I love that new song as well ['Suit & Tie'] - that song's wicked.
'It's going to be a big party I can see it.'
Other stars there on the night included a suited and booted Ed Sheeran, who seemed to match smart with unkempt as he wore a suit with trousers to the prestigious ceremony.
