King and Queen of the Brit Awards: Emeli Sandé and Ben Howard lead winners with two gongs each
The awards celebrate the best of UK music and on Wednesday night Emeli Sandé and Ben Howard proved to be the cream of the crop winning two gongs each at the 2013 Brit Awards.
The Next To Me singer was named Female Solo Artist and scooped the award for British Album with for Our Version of Events at the glitzy bash held at the 02 arena.
Ben Howard also enjoyed a double celebration at the ceremony picking up awards in the British Breakthrough Act and British Male categories.

Emeli won the first award of the evening and was presented with the Female Solo Award by Taylor Swift.
She told the crowd: 'This feels amazing. This is incredible I am so happy to win this award.'
She added: 'Thank you to everyone who has allowed me to win, thank you my family.

Later in the show Emeli spoke of her delight and said the evening 'a dream' after picking up her second award of the evening.
Giving an emotional speech she revealed: 'I think I'm an unlikely popstar.'
She said that she started singing because: 'I didn't have the confidence to say these things in person.'

'Thank you to everyone who has bought this record and who has made me feel like I’m part of something bigger. This is a dream. I’m so thankful for this year and for this award.
The singer closed the star-studded show with a mash-up of some of her biggest songs.
Ben Howard proved to be the big male winner of the evening winning British Breakthrough Act and Best Male Act.

The 25-year-old, accepted the Breakthrough award from Nick Grimshaw before admitting he was fazed by public speaking. He said: 'I'm not very good at speeches I'm not very good at dancing.'
He thanked Radio One for supporting him, before making a swift exit from the stage.
Ben enjoyed a double win scooping the Best British Male gong.
The Devon-born singer accepted the award from Ed Sheeran and he told the events: 'That's bizarre isn't it. I didn't really expect. I was shocked to come to the awards so to come away with two of these
'It's a real privilege'.

Speaking at the Winner's press conference a little later, he sad: 'I was a little shell shocked to win. This is definitely the cherry on the cake. The year had ended, the album had been so much more successful than we'd ever thought, to be nominated for the Brits in the first place was amazing, and to actually come away with these two is bizarre, I think is the best way to describe it.'
One Direction also proved to winners at the star-studded ceremony winning the Global Success award.
The quintet were presented the gong by Robbie Williams and Louis Tomlinson said being honoured was 'absolutely mind-blowing'.
After thanking their fans, record label and management Liam Payne also shouted out to the group's parents, who attended the ceremony.
Mumford and Sons beat the likes of Alt-J and Muse to scoop the second award of the evening.
As the group took to the stage to accept the award they admitted they hadn't expected it.
'We haven’t ever thanked everyone who comes to our gigs.'
They added: 'We love being British, very proud, very grateful.'

Lana Del Rey was presented with the International Female award and she spoke of her love of Britain during her acceptance speech.
The 26-year-old, who was dressed in a navy Chanel shirt dress took to the stage and said: 'Thank you so much I live here, and I love it here and I wrote my record here.'
And she thanked her record label Polydor for: 'Helping me to turn my life into a work of heart.'
Coldplay won their eighth Brit award of their career in the British Live Act category.

Adele's Bond track Skyfall was named as Best British Single but the songstress was able to accept the award in person.
Instead she was seen in a video and told the audience: 'Hello everyone thank you so much.Sorry I can’t be with you tonight but I'm LA rehearsing for the Oscars. I don’t want to keep you too much because I don’t want to interrupt the best album speech at the end of the night.'

As the screen cut back to host James Corden, he referenced last year's blunder, which saw Adele cut off mid-way through her speech, and he asked: 'She's definitely finished? She didn’t say anything else? Check the tape. 100 percent?'
The Black Keys, who won the International Group award, were also not at the ceremony and presenter Dave Grohl said he would take the statue back to America for them.
Model Jourdan Dunn was thrilled to present the International Male Award and screamed the winner was: 'Frank fricking Ocean'.
Teenage kicks: One Direction performed their charity song One Way Or Another Thing
The 25-year-old was effortlessly cool as he took to the stage and kept his speech short and sweet.
He said: 'Before this year I didn't get many trophies in my life.'
Frank added: 'Thanks to Damian Hurst for the polka dots. Have a good night.'
Guests were treated to a whole host of killer performances including a rendition of Candy by Robbie Williams and Justin Timberlake also took to the stage to sing his new song Mirrors.
One Direction performed their charity single One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks) while Harry Styles' ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift sexed things up with a rendition of I Knew You Were Trouble, which is thought to be about the heartthrob.
