The 20-year-old took to Twitter late Friday night with a series of snaps displaying her newly acquired rocker sensibility.

The portraits were full of playful swagger as she and some of her friends struck poses in skimpy outfits.

Her once luxuriously long locks were dyed platinum blonde and coiffed in her now signature bob as she made silly faces for the camera.
The Hoedown Throwdown singer wore a loose mid-riff exposing tank top and, at least in one snap, a steel studded leather punk rock jacket.
Miley and her two friends all sported bright red lipstick, which appeared to delight the former teen idol, who promptly captioned one of the Twitter snaps with the hashtag: '#redlipcrew.'

The snap featured the young ladies lined up in a chain-link group pose with the actress striking a rocker attitude as she clutched her inner thigh in a nod to her punk-inspired attire.
The I Miss You singer was clearly delighted with her leather and steel studded getup, tweeting that same evening: 'Girl in boys clothing'.
The tweet generated quite a response from her fans.
One follower replied: '@MileyCyrus only you can pull it off.'

Meanwhile, the famous performer has been logging in recording time in Los Angeles for a new album.

She began the songwriting process in the midst of rumours that she and fiance actor Liam Hemsworth, had split up after they spent some considerable time apart.
The rumours were further fueled after the former Hannah Montana star was spotted in public without her engagement ring on.
But the songstress quickly offered an explanation for the missing piece of jewelry.
Miley complained that she 'had to send off my engagement ring today to get fixed... one of the little diamonds fell out... I feel naked without it :( so sad!'
And she was promptly spotted with the ring back on her finger soon after the tweeted explanation.
Miley and Liam became acquainted when they both filmed the romantic drama The Last Song in 2009.
She is said to have fallen for him almost immediately but, nonetheless, their relationship has seen ups and downs since then - with brief break-ups along the way.
It was only last summer that the pair announced their engagement.
Liam reportedly proposed with a 3.5 carat diamond ring.
A source told US Weekly that Liam and Miley 'are very happy' and that 'things are going well' since Liam's return from Southeast Asia.
