New York's Plaza Hotel unveils lavish Great Gatsby suite ahead of film release

Want to relive the Jazz Age like F. Scott Fitzgerald? New York's Plaza Hotel unveils lavish Great Gatsby suite ahead of film release

The Plaza Hotel, a favorite former hangout of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, has unveiled a brand new suite dedicated entirely to The Great Gatsby.
In honor of Baz Luhrmann's much-anticipated blockbuster, to be released May 10, the famous Upper East Side hotel has revived the jazz age with a grand Fitzgerald Suite.
The art deco-designed space includes period-pieces from Restoration Hardware (a leading luxury home furnishings purveyor), images from the film, the author's complete collection of works, as well as coffee table books that channel New York in the roaring Twenties.

The hotel also unveiled a Great Gatsby-themed Christmas tree in November last year, which rotated in 660feet of garlands.
The tree was created by Academy Award-winner Catherine Martin, the film's production and costume designer; and sat inside the hotel's famous Palm Court - which has served as a setting for scenes in many popular novels and films, but most notably, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.
Outrageous: Both Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald achieved fame and fortune young but burned out quickly.

Cynthia Scherer, the director of sales and marketing for The Plaza, New York, said: '[The celebrations] add another layer to the rich history and cultural importance of The Plaza.
'Visitors at The Plaza, whether they are overnight guests or simply enjoying a meal or cocktail, have another reason to visit and experience The Plaza as it was in the 1920’s since we have always kept the integrity of the design in place.'
