Selena Gomez goes barefoot for Arabian Nights-inspired MTV Movie Awards performance

She previously named Britney Spears' I'm A Slave 4 U's performance as her favourie MTV Movie Awards rendition of all time.
So when it came to performing her new single Come And Get It at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night, Selena Gomez pulled out all the stops to ensure she wowed her fans.
The 20-year-old singer went barefoot in a shredded red dress as she performed an Arabian Nights inspired routine to the track.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Selena said: 'I wanted to make the performance something that'd be a game-changer for me, personally, because I wanted to out-do everything else I've done as an artist.
'I love dancing. I love the feel of the song and the tribal feel, so I wanted to incorporate that, so I just wanted a fresh take on what, you know, the new chapter is for me. So I'm excited.'
And referring to Britney's MTV VMA performance back in 2001, Selena said: 'My favorite MTV performance for any of the awards would be Britney's I'm a Slave 4 U. I just loved it. I thought it was super-iconic, and she owned that stage. The routine was impeccable.

'She looked beautiful. It was kind of when she had her transitioning moment, and that definitely inspired me for this one, for sure.'
The admiration between Selena and Britney is most definitely mutual, with the mother-of-two tweeting after Selena's performance: 'Wow @SelenaGomez... "Come & Get It" on the #mtvmovieawards was incredible! One of my favorite songs out there right now!'
She then added: 'And thank you for all of the kind words about the VMA Slave performance...you're too sweet! Means a lot to me.'

Selena teamed her red dress with a jewel in the centre of her forehead and gold ankle bracelets and necklace.
The brunette star finished off her ensemble with heavy eye-liner, red lipstick and bright red nail varnish.
Earlier, Selena cut a stylish figure as she posed up on the red carpet outside Sony Picture Studios in Culver City.

As well as performing her new single, Selena was also at the MTV Movie Awards to promote her new movie Spring Breakers, in which she stars alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson.
