They're beach body ready! Miss Universe hopefuls flaunt their super-trim figures in skimpy swimwear... before covering up in show-stopping sequin gowns 

  • Miss Universe competition is taking place at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Las Vegas' famous strip 
  • Competitors faced the Yamamay swimwear round and then stormed the runway in dazzling evening dresses   
  • Earlier today, the models donned elaborate costumes inspired by their country's national dress  
  • Hoping to cinch the glitzy head wear for Great Britain is Nena France, a 25-year-old model from London
Miss Universe hopefuls have flaunted their super-trim figures in skimpy swimwear for the competition's hotly-anticipated bikini round. 
The pageant queens donned the barely-there bathing outfits during the preliminary stages of the glittering contest, which is taking place at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Las Vegas' famous strip. 
As the 81 competitors prepare to do battle for the jewel-encrusted tiara, it seems an eye-watering amount of effort has gone into making sure their tans are the right side of golden, their blow dries are bouncy and their figures are lean.

Miss Italy's Giada Pezzaioli beamed warmly at the crowd as she took to the runway in a plum-coloured triangle bikini and matching briefs. 
Rather than flip-flops, she accessorised the pool side look with sky-high nude sandals. 
She faces stiff competition from Miss Georgia's Janet Kerdikoshvili, who wowed in a blue seashell-print bikini with pretty peplum detail on the knickers, and Miss Norway's Martine Roedseth, who dazzled in a floral push-up bra and matching pants. 
Miss Montenegro's Maja Cukic brought the glamour in a striped black and white two-piece while Miss Sweden's Paulina Brodd opted for a girly lace design.
Miss Spain's Carla Barber and Miss Finland's Rosa-Maria Ryyti looked like they could be sisters with their matching deep bronzed tans, gold hooped earrings and pearly white smiles. 
Meanwhile, Miss Bulgaria's Radostina Todorova threw a wide grin at spectators while she stormed down the catwalk in her flower-print two-piece and Miss Ukraine's Anna Vergelskaya was seen proudly posing with her hand on her left hip.
Miss Denmark's Cecilie Feline Wellemberg led the charge down the runway, closely followed by Miss Czech Republic Nikol Svantnerova.
And, it was a case of 'who wore it best' for Ms Svantnerova and Miss Turkey's Melisa Uzun who opted to wear the same blush-coloured swimwear.

After flashing the flesh, the women then took part in the evening gown stage of the competition. 
They were instructed to parade around in front of the judges wearing awe-inspiring frocks, dazzling dresses and floor-length gowns. 
Miss Great Britain's Nena France opted for an almost bridal look with her white lace dress that had intricate embellishment around the bust. 
Miss Sweden's Paulina Brodd pulled her blonde hair up into a chic side bun and impressed the audience with her strapless dress, complete with green leaf and blue flower motifs. 
Meanwhile, Miss Belgium's Annelies Toros looked like an old school movie siren in her stunning bronze sequin gown. 
The glamour didn't stop there as each of the 81 hopefuls made their way down the catwalk in red carpet-ready frocks. 
It has been a busy day for the pageant hopefuls. 
This morning, the Miss Universe contenders gave the Victoria's Secret Angels a run for their money after taking to the runway in dramatic winged costumes, cleavage-boosting bralets and flesh-flashing leotards. 
The pageant queens donned outfits inspired by their country's national costume during the preliminary stages of the glittering contest.

Attached to the back of her pretty bodice was an enormous pair of scarlet-coloured feathered wings, while a matching tasselled headpiece topped off the breathtaking get-up. 
Miss USA's Olivia Jordan flashed the crowd a peace sign as she stepped out in a fringed garment, which proudly displayed the colours of her country's national flag. 
Spectacular red, white and blue metallic wings were attached to a figure-hugging leotard that had a daringly-low neckline. Thigh-high boots encrusted with silver stars completed the gorgeous look. 
Meanwhile, Miss Singapore's Lisa Marie White looked blooming lovely in her pretty floral design. Ornate pink flowers and a Baroque-print dress ensured she turned heads.

Meanwhile, Miss Argentina's Claudia Alexis Barrionuevo had to shuffle down the runway due to the weight of her hefty feather back piece. 
Looking like a mythical goddess, Ms Barrionuevo also wore a gem-studded bra and carried a masquerade mask.
Also competing in this part of the competition was Miss Costa Rica's Brenda Castro. 
She wore an enormous fruit tree outfit and carried a basket full of bright red berries. A white bralet top and super-short puffball skirt ensured she didn't get hidden amongst the foliage. 
Miss China's Yun Fang Xue and Miss Australia's Monika Radulovic also dazzled audiences with their striking costumes. 
Ms Xue wowed in a floor-length gown complete with traditional Chinese patterns while Ms Radulovic appeared to give a nod to Australian comedian Dame Edna Everage with a giant pair of bright blue glasses. 
Miss India's Urvashi Manvar Singh Rautela delighted crowds by dancing rather than walking her way down the catwalk. 
Her gold-hued attire featured an enormous leaf motif, bead-adorned handcuffs and belly chains. 
Meanwhile, Miss Honduras' Iroshka Lindaly Elvir wore a dazzling dress complete with thigh-high splits. 
The theatrical look was topped off with a turquoise feather head piece that had a gothic skull placed in the middle. 
Flying the flag for the Great Britain is Narissara Nena France. 
She appeared to channel Spice Girl Geri Halliwell in her Union Jack leotard. The diamante corset had cut-outs at the side, which enhanced Ms France's slender waist. 
Meanwhile, Miss Ireland's Joanna Cooper threw her arms in the air as she took to the runway. 
Her skin-coloured body stocking was adorned with strategically placed green and gold jewels, which helped protect her modesty.

The excitement was clear to see as glamorous women from 81 nations arrived in Las Vegas, ready to battle it out for the coveted crown

Miss Turkey's Asli Melisa Uzun, Miss Thailand's Aniporn Chalermburanawong and Miss Cayman Islands' Tonie Maria Chisholm also sent the audiences into a frenzy with their elaborate stage wear. 
The glamorous competition kicked off on December 8 as women from all four corners of the globe descended on Las Vegas.  
Dolled up in sequin-adorned floor-length gowns, eye-wateringly high shoes and sashes proudly showcasing their country of origin, the competitors posed for a photograph on the steps of the four-star hotel, Planet Hollywood alongside last year's winner, Colombia's Paulina Vega. 
All eyes were on 22-year-old Miss Vega as she stepped out of a chauffeur-driven car in a floor-skimming gold sequin dress with spaghetti straps and an emerald-studded headpiece. 
Miss Vega is only the second woman from Colombia to win the crown in the competition's 63 year history. 
Moments after her historic win, people in her home country flooded the streets and danced in celebration. President Juan Manuel Santos also declared a national holiday in her honour. 
The 5’ 9” dark-haired beauty, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, said after her win: 'My goal this year is to learn more about myself – I hope to become a better person, better professional and better Paulina.'
Eager to scoop the prize again is this year's entry for Colombia, 21-year-old Ariadna Gutierrez Aréval. 
She was spotted flashing a peace sign at the waiting press and giving the cameras a thumbs up. 
But she has stiff competition - not least in the form of Peru's 24-year-old Laura Spoya.
