'I’d sent my demos to RocNation when I was 17, then a few days later they called me up and said they wanted to meet,' says the 22-year-old.
'I panicked, thinking I wouldn’t be able to afford to go, I started selling trainers, then I realised they were going to pay for me,' she added.
With her bright blonde hair perfectly curled in her trademark ringlets, the singer wears dark, smokey eye make-up and a splash of red lipstick in the new shots.
Covering up the black swimsuit with a white jacket and adding gold chains around her neck, Rita maintains her typically edgy style.

In another shot, the star wears a silk shirt tied in a knot at the front and tight trousers, taking up a sultry pose for the camera.
Talking about her first meeting with Jay-Z, she said: 'I thought it was going to be another disappointment, but after 10 minutes we shook hands and then spent the next 2 hours having a DJ battle.'
Rita cemented her superstar status as she performed to a sell-out crowd at London's Shepherds Bush Empire on Wednesday night.
The fun-loving star celebrated the gig with an afterparty at Mahiki wearing a bright cut-out trouser ensemble and leather hat.

Speaking to The Metro ahead of her gig, she said: 'I’ve never been offered to pose naked but I need to ask my parents first.'
The young star reportedly turned down a role as a judge on The X Factor after a series of talks with producers.
'If I were to take on that role it would have to be at a point when I could give it my full attention,' she told the Mirror.
'I have so much to accomplish first and it’s kind of a full-time job being on X Factor,' she added.
