Beckinsale might be best known for her ass-kicking roles in the Underworld films, but she started out a brainy 'late bloomer.'

When Kate tied the knot in 2004 with husband Len Wiseman at the Hotel Bel-Air, Lily got her own wedding ring.
'Len was initially a bit alarmed. I think teenage girls are a little frightening to dads, but he's usually in the thick of it,' she said.
'And if he's not, he's one of those brilliant people who doesn’t mind when they find him in his man cave and tease him mercilessly. There is nothing nicer than six of seven screeching girls having a great time in your house.'

The 40-year-old filmmaker has directed his wife in three movies - Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, and Total Recall.

And Kate will next appear in the drama, The Trials of Cate McCall, with Nick Nolte and James Cromwell.
In it, she plays a former hotshot lawyer fighting to be reinstated at the bar and attempting to recover custody of her daughter.
