'My life started to spin out of control': The Saturdays' Vanessa White reveals secret battle with alcohol

The Saturdays singer Vanessa White has revealed she dealt with a secret struggle with alcohol in the past.
The 24-year-old opened up about her battle with booze in The Sun’s Fabulous magazine admitting it got so bad at one point it began to jeopardise her career.
She said: ‘My life started to spin out of control in 2010 and it was a dreadful year. I’d be out every night.’

While at the time the rest of her bandmates – Frankie Sandford, Rochelles Humes, Una Foden and Mollie King - were in long term relationships she was single and partying away.
The pretty star, who has been dating Gary Satler since 2011, admitted: ‘I drank vodka mainly but, to be honest, I drank anything. It massively affected the band and I felt lonely and drepressed.’
She reveals things were so bad that she would turn up to work so hungover that she wouldn’t be able to sing and she relied on her bandmate Una to take on her solos.
Happier place: Vanessa, who has been dating Gary Satler since 2011, is in a much better place now
Things came to a head at the end of 2011, just ahead of their All Fired Up tour and she turned to Rochelle for help.
She reveals that she stayed with her bandmate Rochelle, who is married to Marvin and now a mother-of-one, for two weeks and didn’t drink – which she says helped her realise it was time to put an end to her boozing.
Her revelation comes after she has just enjoyed an alcohol-free January, which she only broke on Wednesday evening with her first glass of wine.

Speaking at the Ralph Lauren for Vision Express launch party she said: ‘This is actually my first drink of 2014 so far, I've not had one all month.’
This comes after the What About Us hitmaker admitted she had cut down on partying last winter when her band mates advised her to stop going out as much.
Vanessa says she has been staying in far more in recent weeks and has taken up Pilates and yoga in a bid to refocus her lifestyle.
She explained: 'I've taken up a new hobby instead, exercising. I've become obsessed with yoga and Pilates, I love it, it's so relaxing. It's so addictive.’
The star remained coy when quizzed about the girls' new music video, which they teased fans they were shooting over Twitter earlier this week.
She hinted: 'I can't say what song it's going to be, but there is going to be a lot of neon in the video... Neon lights.’
