Julian Clary is crowned 2012 Celebrity Big Brother winner

'I hope this gives me a shot in the arm': Julian Clary has high hopes for his tour as he is crowned 2012 Celebrity Big Brother winner

After twenty-three days, Julian Clary was crowned the winner of Celebrity Big Brother.
His route to glory was not easy, having to successfully navigate arguments, love triangles, accusations of prostitution, and espionage from soap icon Julie Goodyear.
After watching Martin Kemp, Harvey and Ashley McKenzie and Coleen Nolan walk out before him, he realised he was the last contestant standing, and burst into tears.

Tensions were high as Julian and Coleen sat in the compound anxiously waiting to hear who had won the show.
The two TV personalities gripped each other tightly before bursting in to tears as Brian announced Julian was the 'people's champion.'
'Mind your make-up, Julian!' he called over the microphone. 'Mind those tears!'

As Coleen was asked to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house, she did so with a smile on her face but not before congratulating the worthy winner.
She continually hugged Julian and smiled uncontrollably as the good news took its time to settle in to both stars.
Julian was sobbing into the arms of Coleen as the crowds of people outside the house cheered his name following a tumultuous tension filled night.

Harvey was the first to be evicted, followed by Ashley McKenzie, The Situation and Martin Kemp.
'Can you ask them to cancel the fireworks?' he called at Colleen as she went up the stairs to the exit.

Julian was left alone in the house while Colleen Nolan had her runner's up interview.
When the cameras returned to him, he looked overwhelmed as he sat quietly on the sofa.
Brian spoke to him over the house's PA system, to which he replied: 'I can hardly speak.'
Then, in a moment of delirium he asked out loud: 'Are you watching me?'

After exiting the house, the Celebrity Big Brother host was quick to point out he had never seen the eccentric comedian lost for words.
As they sat down to talk about his time in the house, he became emotional.

Probed about his quietness, he explained: 'It doesn't happen very often, I've never won anything in my life.'
He then spoke directly to the cameras, saying to the audience at home: 'Thank you, you've made a fifty-three year old homosexual very happy.'

But soon he loosened up and his trademark dark humour returned.

'It's a strange feeling when you're about to be imminently ejaculated from the house,' he quipped, deadpan.

He added, 'You don't realise until you come here that your feelings are manipulated by Big Brother. I'm a complete wreck!'
He was then showed a montage of his best moments with soap icon Julie Goodyear, who was grinning from ear to ear when the cameras cut to her.

She was constantly entertaining me and making me laugh,' he said.
'I was a bit lost when she went and there was no one to camp around with.'
He added: 'I love you Julie.'

However, one housemate he had less affection for was Jersey Shore star The Situation, who he nicknamed 'the occasional table'.
He explained to Brian that the nickname stemmed from the American's old fashioned attitude towards women.
Julian also apologised for his tame behaviour which may have been the opposite of what his fans expected.
He revealed: 'I'm not very sociable really, it's not a constant stream of double entendres but I did them when I could.

'You cant keep that up all the time. Can you imagine living with someone like Kenneth Williams? you have to conserve your strength in there.'
He also admitted that he managed to survive the gruelling twenty-four days by keeping himself out of trouble.
'I don't like it when people get snappy, my mission is always to keep the peace so I didn't join in,' he said.
When asked what winning the show meant to him, he joked, 'A shot in the arm, hopefully.
'I'm going on tour very soon, that will be a constant stream of filth, I guarantee.'

Colleen Nolan was the housemate to be evicted before Julian.
Speaking to Brian, she revealed that she had no idea why Corrie matriarch Julie Goodyear had taken a disliking to her.
She admitted that she thought they'd become friends as they had something in common - they both were 'strong, northern women.'
Third place was Martin Kemp, Spandau Ballet guitarist and real life Big Brother fan, who had been hotly tipped to reign victorious tonight.
He told Brian that his trick in the house was just to 'be the man I am at home, the husband to Shirley and Dad to Harley and Roman.'
Brian pointed out that he had become a father figure to some of the younger contestants, to which he agreed.

The Situation was the third person to be evicted.
Speaking to Brian Dowling, he said: 'It makes me feel a little bit better that admitted she did cross the line but the eyes don't lie and she fancied me subliminally.'
The Situation, real name Mike Sorrentino, also admitted that he thinks he fell for Danica because of her British accent.
He said: 'I think I was drawn to the accent and the whole style of it and she was the first one I saw when I got in there.'
His feelings for the curvy glamour model ruined what should have been a blossoming friendship between himself and housemate Prince Lorenzo.
Mike said: 'Me and prince were really close for the first week and after that second week it went worse.
Proud: MC Harvey looked elated as he tasted freedom

Sweet taste of freedom: MC Harvey and The Situation had different reactions to the outside world
'There definitely was a divide in the house between the older and the younger group. I didn't get to Coleen as much as I could have.
'The split between the housemates was felt most perhaps by Julie Goodyear as the soap star became a disliked figure in her final days.
Mike said: 'She was like the grandma of the house.
'Towards the end she totally kind of 360 turned and next thing it was pretty apparent she went from grandma to gangster momma.'
Fans were interested to hear Olympian Ashley McKenzie's take on his one-sided crush on Rhian Sugden.

He explained: 'When she came in, she said a couple of words and I thought she was 'on it' so to say.
'But I then found out she was 'off it' so that put it there.'
Smiling, the judo athlete added: 'But shes an amazing girl and I hope her and her boyfriend get married and it's in OK Magazine and it's good to go.'
The first celebrity to be evicted from the famous house was MC Harvey.
However, he was not downbeat about coming sixth, and dedicated his appearance on the show to little Angel, who was born in August 2008.
Harvey remained upbeat, telling the audience that he wasn't disappointed to come sixth in the competition.
He said: 'I'm not gutted, as I have won just getting to the final. I feel like in the three weeks people have seen enough of me. I feel like I've won.'
