Desperate for work, the path to success for would-be actors and actresses traditionally was to send their photos to the casting director’s bible Spotlight. 

Among the young hopefuls were Julie Christie, Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones. 

Now, to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the classic directory of performers, these film gems are being put on show in London’s Leicester Square. 

Can you make out these now famous faces before they made it on to the big screen?
