Alexandra Burke appears in Les Miserables for Children In Need's POP Goes The Musical

From drab to fab: Alexandra Burke looks a far cry from her usual chic self as she appears in Les Miserables for Children In Need's POP Goes The Musical

She's known for being polished to perfection as she hits the red carpet.
But Alexandra Burke looked a far cry from her usually chic self as she took to the stage for a one-off performance of epic musical Les Miserables last night (Tuesday).
Showcasing her vocal talents at London's Queen's Theatre in aid of Children In Need's POP Goes The Musical, the 24-year-old singer adopted the costume of a peasant during the French Revolution.

Wearing a ragged jacket and skirt and tatty blouse pinned in with a tan belt, the 2008 X Factor winner fitted into the role of the tragic Eponine perfectly.
But the look couldn't have been further away from Alexandra's usual style, which she later showcased when leaving the theatre.
Making sure to flaunt her toned legs in a super-short tight black dress, the star looked thrilled with her performance as she emerged from the venue.

And the All Night Long hitmaker had her tresses groomed back to perfection once again - a notable difference from the matted look she was fashioning in character on stage.
Prior to taking to the stage, she wrote on her Twitter page: 'I have never been this nervous in my whole life. :(
'Not long to go now. I pray I do a good job. Thank you for all the amazing messages - will let u know how it goes. #LesMiserables #CIN.'
'Nervous': Alexandra admitted she suffered an attack of the nerves before heading on stage for the one-off performance

And Alexandra had previously admitting to being worried about having to draw on her acting talents to perform the iconic song.
In a recent blog for BBC's Children In Need, she said: 'It’s such a wonderful opportunity. Les Mis is such an iconic musical, it’s been running for years and I’ve always loved it.
'I’ve been asked to sing one of the biggest numbers On My Own, it’s a huge honour! When I first rehearsed with the cast there were ten people listening to me, I was so nervous.

'The cast work so hard, I just hope I’ll live up to their standards! On My Own is a beautiful song, and so full of emotion, it’s definitely a challenge to perform, I can’t just be a singer up there, I need to really feel it and draw on my acting skills too.'
But it would seem Alexandra was pleased with her efforts, later taking to Twitter to express her pride at being involved in POP Goes The Musical.
She wrote: 'I don't say this often. But I'm so proud. So proud to be apart of this for Children In Need & raising money for a great cause...@BBCCiN

'Giving back means so much2me & to do this with @lesmisofficial has made me happy girl. Such an honour a moment I will never forget.
'Thank you so much to those who supported me. I'm left speechless with how proud I am of this moment. Thank you @lesmisofficial and @BBCCiN.'
Earlier in the day, Alexandra was pictured arriving at the Queen's Theatre looking her usual polished self.
Showing off her slim frame in a pair of super-tight jeans, the star looked casually chic in a white leather biker jacket, black vest and towering Christian Louboutin platform heels.
