'A sex symbol? You cannot be serious': Strictly Susanna's sexy secret

Strictly: Susanna Reid laughed off suggestions her performances on the BBC show have earned her the title of 'sex symbol'
In her figure-hugging, sequin-spangled frocks, Susanna Reid has men’s pulses racing on Strictly Come Dancing.
But a sex symbol? You cannot be serious, says the 42-year-old mother of three and BBC Breakfast sofa stalwart.
‘My partner (sports producer Dominic Cotton) thinks it’s hilarious that people say I’m a sex symbol,’ says Susanna. ‘He says if they saw me first thing in the morning, they wouldn’t think it!
‘I certainly don’t look like “telly me” off screen. My job is making the most of how I look.
‘On TV I look half-decent because I’ve been made to look that way, but it’s an illusion!
‘Compliments about my cleavage and appearance are bizarre. To me, it’s all about being professional. I’ve accepted TV’s a visual medium, so there will be a focus on my looks and that’s part and parcel of being female.’
Susanna, who caused a stir when she appeared to flirt with the Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner during an interview, admits that as a young woman she had her insecurities.
‘When I got to my mid-30s, I thought: “Do you know what? It’s what I look like and if you don’t like it, tough,” ’ she tells Woman magazine.
‘People talk about me accepting my sexy side, but I don’t feel that way. I feel comfortable and confident in my skin, so maybe that’s what people find sexy.’
