He's only 16-years-old but Nicholas McDonald wowed the X Factor judges yet again with his rendition of Someone Like You by Grammy Award winning artist Adele.
The Scot belted out the track with the emotion of someone twice his age for the Great British Song book week.
While Sam Callahan took a risk by playing guitar live along to his version of George Michael's Faith, which didn't pay off and left him looking 'defeated'.

After Nicholas' performance Nicole Schezinger said: 'I can't wait to buy your album'.
Nicole added: 'Nicky blue eyes, my Nicky blue eyes. if I could listen to your voice all day I would.'
Gary was a little more critical saying: 'You need to turn up the individuality notch a bit, it's time to add more of yourself to these performances.'
Split opinion: Gary was a little more critical on Nicholas telling him he needs to bring more of himself to his next performance

When Dermot asked him to explain his critque the Take That star added: 'Luke came out here and made an Elton John song his own, Rough Copy came out and made a Cold Play song their own, we're at the sharp end of the competition now.'
However Twitter was set alight with praise for the young star's performance with Boy George saying: 'Nicholas sung that @adele song perfectly! Wrong mr Barlow!'

Nicholas, who wore a maroon and black bomber jacket, confessed he was nervous about performing the song because Adele won a Grammy Award for it.
Sharon Osbourne was also impressed saying he never fails to deliver every week and he has a fantastic voice.
She added: 'I can't believe the emotion seeing you are as a single man and you put all that emotion into it. You clearly have a big heart and your only 16!'

Nicholas can take comfort in Mrs O's comments and the fact his female fan base doesn't stop at Nicole and Sharon.
He said just before singing live: 'I didn't have any luck with girls before the X Factor and now suddenly there's lots of girls outside screaming my name.
'They even stand outside the house for hours in the rain shouting my name and some send me fan male- real fans.
But he added: 'I'm 100 per cent single, but I don't have time for a girlfriend. I need to stay focused, I don't want to go home.'
Right attitude: Sam was praised by the judges for his work ethos and the effort he puts in every week

Meanwhile, Sam Callahan burst onto stage with his rendition of George Michael's hit song Faith.
But his decision to play the guitar live didn't quite pay off when he slipped up while singing on stage.
Wearing white jeans and a black and white shirt Sam looked defeated as it dawned on him he'd made a mistake by trying to play guitar and sing.
Fighter: Sam was praised for his fighting spirit regardless of the fact his performance was under par compared to other contestants

Sam seemed to cringe his way through his own performance but carried on even adding a backwards stage dive onto his backing dancers at the end.
With his nervous bubbling to the surface he quietly turned to them as his feet touched the ground and said 'Thank you' making him the most polite stage diver ever.
Despite his 'hiccup' the judges responses to his performance was probably the most positive yet.
Takes it on the chin: Sharon said Sam looked 'defeated' on stage, but he seemed to appreciate the feed back he got this week

Gary who has given Sam scathing critiques week in week out even went easier on the young star saying he had respect for his fighting spirit.
He said: 'Your a risk taker and a fighter and I respect that about you. You come back fighting every week. Well done.'

Sharon described him as 'extremely brave', but said he looked 'defeated' on stage, but Sam seemed to appreciate the feed back he got this week.
As a voice of reasurance she said: 'Tonight you looked defeated, you looked scared stiff and there's no need to be - I know how many followers you have on twitter'.
Nicole added: 'You had a hiccup with the guitar, but  you're a fighter and you have the right attitude to make it in this business'.
