Earlier that day she took to Twitter to defend her new single Cool For The Summer, after some fans alleged it sounded like Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl and Jessie J's Domino.
However, 22-year-old Demi Lovato shook off the criticism on Wednesday and celebrated the hit - already number one on iTunes - with a pool party thrown by radio station Z100 at Gansevoort Park Avenue in New York City.
She put her trim figure on display in a risque black bikini top with revealing cut-outs as she hit the stage before taking a dip alongside fans.

Demi wore a revealing black bikini top underneath a sleeveless dark wash denim jacket, which she later removed while performing.
She coupled those with a pair of high-waisted, distressed denim shorts, and finished off the look with an edgy pair of gladiator-style thigh-high black heels with a peep toe.
The former Disney Channel star wore her short, raven locks styled in loose waves, and accentuated the eye-catching look with a bright red lipstick.

After entertaining the crowd with her sultry new hit, Demi hopped right into the pool -shoes and denim shorts still on - and then posed for selfies alongside her dedicated fans.
She took to Instagram after the party - showing off dripping wet locks post-swim as she stood alongside two girls in towels - and shared her excitement over the promotional tour.

The revealing number hugged the songstress's curves, and also showed off her toned midriff with a large cut-out.

Earlier in the day she had taken to Instagram to celebrate her single reaching number one on iTunes, writing: 'HOLY S*** #1 ALREADY?!?!?! YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH #CoolForTheSummer'

In one photo the star looked glamorous as she posed alongside Roxanne Margaret, who will star with the songstress in the upcoming video.
Both women sport dramatic winged eyeliner and glossy pink lips in the photo, which Demi captioned: 'Got some gorge girls in my #coolforthesummer video including this b****.. @roxanne_margaret is officially my video hoe.'
