Prince George almost stole the show today, after he arrived for sister Charlotte's christening

That looks familiar! George steals the show in replica of outfit worn by William 30 years ago when he visited baby Harry in hospital

  • Prince George arrived for the christening in a red and white outfit
  • Ensemble is almost identical to one worn by William 30 years ago
  • George, who is two this month, was making his fourth UK appearance
A bashful Prince George almost stole the show today, after he arrived for sister Charlotte's christening wearing a retro pair of red shorts and clutching his father's hand.
George's outfit, by designer Rachel Riley, is almost identical to one worn by Prince William to meet his newborn brother Harry for the first time -  more than thirty years ago.
Although the Duke of Cambridge's white shirt had slightly more embroidery, in every other respect, the outfits are identical.

Sister Charlotte arrived in a pram pushed by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, who looked wonderful in a cream Alexander McQueen ensemble.
George, who celebrates his second birthday later this month, was making his fourth UK public visit, shortly after an equally scene-stealing appearance at Trooping the Colour in June.
On that occasion, the little boy was seen gleefully clapping his hands as the royal procession rolled past the window from which he and nanny Maria Teresa Burallo were watching.
Later, he was carried out onto the Buckingham Palace balcony for the first time and looked entranced when the traditional flypast soared over his head.
George, who has spent the past two months at Anmer Hall in Norfolk with his parents and baby sister, also made headlines for his appearance outside the Lindo Wing on the day of Charlotte's birth.

Then, dressed in a royal blue jumper that matched his father, he melted hearts with a shy wave and smile for the crowd of photographers and well-wishers assembled outside.
The young prince has become one of the most popular members of the Royal Family since his birth two years ago and is third in line to the throne after his father and grandfather.
Born in July 2013, he was christened in October the same year wearing the Honiton lace christening robe sported by sister Charlotte today.
Unlike Charlotte, who has no royal godparents, George’s seven included Zara Tindall who attended the ceremony with her rugby player husband Mike.
Among the rest were Oliver Baker, who attended St Andrews University with William and Kate and Hugh Grosvenor, a family friend who is the son of the Duke of Westminster.
Julia Samuel, who was a close friend of Diana, Princess of Wales, William van Cutsem, Emilia Jardine-Paterson and the Duke and Duchess’s former private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton were also asked.
Briefly seen in January 2014 boarding a flight to Mustique in the arms of his mother, his next major appearance came during a tour of Australia and New Zealand the following April.

THE ROYALS MISS OUT AGAIN: ANNE AND EDWARD OFF THE GUEST LIST

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh might have been among the most notable arrivals but Princess Charlotte's christening was remarkably light on royal relations.
As at Prince George's 2013 baptism, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward were all absent, as was Edward's wife, Sophie Wessex.
Also missing were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, both of whom had been heavily backed to become godparents, and Peter and Autumn Phillips.
Most notable of all the absentees was Prince Harry, although in his case, the omission is a result of him being abroad - the fifth in line is currently in Africa working on conservation projects.
Prince Andrew is also out of the country and is touring Papua New Guinea, one of the 16 Commonwealth realms, on behalf of the Queen.
Yesterday, he opened the Pacific Games in the capital Port Moresby and was back in action at the Games, which sees 30,000 athletes from the region compete, today.
Zara Tindall, the godmother of Prince George, was also notable by her absence as was her husband Mike - another thought likely to get the job of godparent.

He also took part in his first official event in the Blandor Room of Government House in Wellington and was joined by a group of local babies as well as his parents.
Further scene-stealing appearances came during the Australian leg of the tour, most notably at Taronga Zoo in Sydney where he was introduced to a bilby named in his honour.
So enamoured of the little prince were the Australians, the baby was nicknamed 'the republican slayer' in the local press.
Since then, little has been seen of the prince who with his sister will, his parents hope, have a 'normal' childhood.
Both children are overseen in the nursery by Spanish Norland nanny Ms Burallo and are believed to enjoy outings to farm parks, Sunday markets and zoos with their mother and grandmother.
George has also been spending more time with his other grandparents, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, in recent weeks and reportedly visited Highgrove two weeks ago.

PRINCESS DIANA REMEMBERED AT HER GRANDDAUGHTER'S CHRISTENING

She was killed in a car accident when Prince William was just 15 but Princess Diana’s oldest son made sure his mother was remembered at Princess Charlotte’s christening today.
The ceremony, which took place four days after what would have been her 54th birthday, is packed with nods to the late royal, including the venue itself.
Another link to Diana is the choice of The Honourable Laura Fellowes, her niece and William’s first cousin, as godparent.
The daughter of Jane, Baroness Fellowes, the 35-year-old’s father is Robert, a former assistant private secretary to the Queen.
When the couple married at Westminster Abbey in 1978, Jane’s sister Diana was bridesmaid although the two didn’t always get along later in life.
Nevertheless, when Diana was killed in Paris, it was Jane who flew to the French capital to collect her sister’s body alongside Lady Sarah McCorquodale and the Prince of Wales.
William remains close to his cousin Laura and was among the guests, accompanied by the then Kate Middleton, at her 2009 wedding – an event also attended by Earl Spencer.
Although Earl Spencer and Diana’s siblings did not make the guest list for Charlotte’s christening, the late Princess of Wales has been remembered in other ways too.
Along with the church itself, the date was picked for its closeness to Diana’s birthday, while her baby granddaughter also carries her name.
