Jennifer Lawrence wasn't always the Oscar-winning, international movie star that she has become over the past few years.
In fact, the 24-year-old Hunger Games actress was playing Shakespearean roles in a community theatre - and singing - only one decade ago.
But she showed plenty of promise even then, as a video unearthed by CNN clearly shows.

The CNN story, which focused on Jennifer's pre-fame roots, was released on Friday and included an interview with her first acting teacher.
Another person interviewed, a reporter who worked the Louisville, Kentucky area where Jennifer was raised, noted that her earliest role may have been in a church play when she was nine years old.
Jennifer's role was perhaps a bit controversial: 'She played the best little prostitute.'

Just a few years later, when Jennifer was 14, she enrolled in her first acting classes at the Walden Theatre.
Her director, Charlie Sexton, told CNN that the young Jennifer was 'determined and unflappable.'
Jennifer quickly earned a starring role in a rather difficult piece, Shakespeare's Othello.

Playing the lead female role of Desdemona, Jennifer had to speak lines in Shakespearean English and sang a capella shortly before her theatrical husband, the titular Othello, smothered her to death.
As is evident in the video, Jennifer was a rather good singer.
The actress' first big break came only a few years later, when she was cast as the teenage daughter in The Bill Engvall Show in 2007.Big changes: Only 10 years later, Jennifer (seen here at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay premiere in Los Angeles) has starred in international blockbusters

After that show was cancelled in 2009, Jennifer went on to play the lead role in the independent film, Winter's Bone.
Because of this part, Jennifer was nominated for her first Academy Award at the tender age of 20.
That 2011 nomination was quickly followed by a Best Actress Oscar win in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.
Thanks to another Oscar nomination for American Hustle and to her starring role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movies, that young and singing girl in the video would be a huge star within a decade.
